Itinerary
Picture yourself gliding along France’s storied waterways while stepping out for invigorating hikes through sun-dappled vineyards and historic towns—"Nature, Harmony, and Hiking on a Cruise in the Garonne Region" crafts this rare combination into a delightful five-day escape. Departing and returning to Bordeaux, this port-to-port cruise tour immerses travelers in the scenic Gironde region, famed for its harmonious blend of nature, culture, and wine.
With carefully curated hikes—ranging from gentle family-friendly strolls to more robust treks—you’ll trace the banks of the estuary past traditional fishing cabins, wander the cobbled streets of Bordeaux’s UNESCO-listed center, and follow the Fort-Médoc Loop, retracing the footsteps of Vauban, the renowned French military engineer. The medieval town of Saint-Émilion and its rolling vineyards offer both cultural immersion and spectacular panoramas.
A unique selling point of this cruise is its partnership with the Fédération Française de Randonnées, ensuring expertly guided walks tailored for all levels, focusing on both nature and the region’s storied past. Onboard accommodation provides comfort after each day’s explorations, with meals and select experiences included. This tour is perfect for those who appreciate the pleasures of river cruising but crave the added dimension of active exploration and authentic local encounters.
