Pedal through the heart of Central Europe on the "Hungarian Rhapsody" bicycle trip, an 8-day self-guided adventure designed for seasoned travelers eager to blend culture, scenery, and activity. Starting in Vienna and culminating in Budapest, this tour leads you along the renowned Danube Cycle Path, crossing Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary.
Revel in the elegance of Vienna's imperial streets before crossing into Slovakia, where the cycle route winds past the Little Carpathian vineyards to the lively capital, Bratislava. Enjoy tranquil country roads as you move into Hungary, with stops in the historic Baroque city of Györ and the vibrant artist enclave of Szentendre, famed for its riverside island. The journey ends in Budapest, where grand architecture and rich traditions await.
This moderate-level tour package includes accommodations, meals, and transport, ensuring comfort as you explore at your own pace. The standout feature is the seamless fusion of three cultures along one legendary river, making it perfect for travelers who seek both physical activity and cross-border discovery.
They did a wonderful job of organizing and supporting our bicycle adventure from Vienna to Budapest. The hotels were wonderful and the breakfast's amazing. Having not only GPS directions, but accompanying written directions and maps made our tour a breeze. Communication before and during the trip was excellent.
The cycle along the Danube was very scenic, with the towns on the way. We had lots of beautiful wildflowers!
We thoroughly enjoyed the Hungarian Rhapsody ride from Vienna to Budapest this past August. We loved the self-guided option as it gave maximal flexibility on timing and options for excursions along the way. The bags were always at our hotel prior to our arrival, most hotels were better than expected (though we did pay for the upgrade), and the cycling routes allowed us to explore both touristy areas as well as the countryside "off the beaten path". We enjoyed the option for 1/2 board however would prefer to have more options for dinner (ie dine in the cities when there are ample options). There were a few map/timing glitches but overall we really enjoyed this trip; I would definitely do another.
Our trip was a great adventure, exploring the Danube cycleway and various historic towns along the way. The accommodation and meals at the end of each day were fantastic and a great relaxation after a day's cycling.
