Austria Bicycle Trips

We rode an unguided tour along the Danube from Passau, Germany to Vienna. We flew into and out of Vienna and took a train to Passau without incident. People were friendly, food was good, hotels were excellent. Each town we passed was old and worth seeing.

We really enjoyed our cycle adventure, riding along the Danube. It was easy riding, mostly very flat, though there was more on-road cycling than we anticipated. We are both 60 and hired ebikes which were very comfortable and easy to use. (We were rather sore by the end of day 2, but by day 5 we were fine.) The personalised books were fun to read through in the evening to plan the next day, though not so helpful while travelling as we needed to get out our reading glasses to look at them! The GPX navigation files were okay, but sometimes included different accommodation to ours, and also didn't move along with us, or the phone would time out so the next time I needed to look, I would have to stop and refresh to catch up. The scenery is amazing; we were very lucky with perfect weather for our whole 6 days of cycling. I would recommend people do this tour. It is a lovely way to see places you would otherwise never get to.

Highly recommend this cycling trip. The hotels were all of a high quality and the cycling easy except for 2 spots where we had to cycle up steep hills to get to our hotel.

Beautiful bike ride along the Danube. The trails are well maintained, well marked and easy to ride. They provided us with everything we needed, booked great hotels and our bags magically appeared at each hotel at the end of the day. We will definitely use them for future trips!

1. The Wachau Valley was the highlight. 2. Finding the correct bus route to pick up the bikes on the first evening was a bit of a challenge. 3. The GPX worked so well letting us know within 50 yards that we were off the suggested trail. 4. While St. Agatha was beautiful and the lodging comfortable; contacting the pickup and waiting for a couple of hours was not our favorite way to end a rainy biking day. 5. Had we realized several hotels were not in walking distance to restaurants, we would have purchased the evening meal plan. 6. The days were filled with a variety of beautiful changing scenery while riding the entire week along the Danube — good trip.

The trip was a fabulous experience, beautiful riverside scenery, lovely hotels and seamless itinerary in all aspects. Good bikes and support.
