Itinerary
Northern Morocco beckons with its blend of history, color, and culture—just a short hop from Europe yet a world away. This tour traces a captivating route from Tangier to Casablanca, weaving through Tetouan, the blue-washed charm of Chefchaouen, ancient Fez, and regal Rabat. Along the way, delve into bustling medinas, lively markets, and iconic landmarks, each city offering its own unique allure. Designed for sophisticated explorers seeking a moderate pace, this trip is rich with opportunities for cultural immersion and local encounters. The unique selling point: a perfectly balanced itinerary that captures both Morocco’s storied past and vibrant present, making it ideal for those wanting a deep yet accessible introduction to the region’s wonders.
day 1 - Tangier arrival
Meet your English-speaking driver/guide on arrival at the airport or the ferry terminal and drive to your hotel in the city. You are free for the rest of the day.
day 2 - Discover Tangier
Start out by visiting Gran Teatro Cervantes built in 1913 by the Spanish and then explore the city's medina and the kasbah. After a stroll around the Grand Socco, you will visit the American Legation Museum, which conveys the history of the relationship between the US and Morocco. Later, visit the Kasbah Museum to see some fantastic exhibits related to the Islamic history of Morocco. Travel through the winding alleys of the medina and you can see the Tomb of Ibn Battuta (entrance fees not included). You are free for the rest of the day after the sightseeing tour is over.
day 3 - Tangier to Tetouan & Chefchaouen
Head for Tetouan, an Andalusian city with Spanish architectural and artistic influences, after breakfast. While strolling through its charming medina, you may notice many buildings painted white with a lush green background, making every turn picturesque.
Later, proceed to Chefchaouen, known as the "Blue Pearl of Morocco". Explore its cobblestone medina and take pictures of its stunning doorways, alleys and buildings. Outa-el-Hammam Square in the center, surrounded by the grand mosque, shops and restaurants, will be a pleasant place to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
day 4 - Chefchaouen to Fez
Leave Chefchaouen behind for Fez. Along the way, you will stop by the holy town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, which houses the tomb of Idris I, Morocco's first major Islamic ruler. A few kilometers away are the ruins of Volubilis, which have been designated a Unesco World Heritage Site for being "an exceptionally well-preserved example of a large Roman colonial town on the fringes of the empire". Then stop at Meknes to see the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail as well as Dar El-Makhzen.
day 5 - Explore Fez
Founded in 789 AD, Fez is known as the cultural and spiritual center of Morocco. Within its high-walled medina, myriad narrow pedestrian streets snake through the city, lined with historic monuments and souqs. Follow a local tour guide to see the major attractions hidden in this labyrinthine area, such as the Madrasa Bou Inania, the famous tanneries of Fez and the ornate entrance of the Royal Palace in Fez.
day 6 - Fez to Rabat
Today you will drive for two hours to reach Rabat. Explore the highlights of the city on reaching there. Stroll along the narrow blue-and-white lanes of the Kasbah of the Udayas and admire colorful Andalusian-style houses. Take a break at the city's botanical garden and then call it a day after having seen the unfinished Hassan Tower and the nearby Mausoleum of Mohammed V.
day 7 - Rabat to Casablanca & departure
At the pre-appointed time, your private driver will take you to the airport in Casablanca for your homebound flight.
