Contiki is a great way for solo-travelers to travel with new friends. This was my fifth Contiki, so I generally knew what to expect. Things I wish I knew:
• Paying for the free-time add-ons was hard. Especially in Buenos Aires, only U.S. cash was accepted. People who weren’t from the U.S. struggled obtaining U.S. currency or had to pay hefty fees.
• Accommodations are allegedly 3-star hotels, but they felt a little below that in my personal opinion. The first hotel was so bad I actually got my own hotel separately. The Contiki hotel had stains on the sheets, sharp mattress springs, peeling wallpaper, black chips in the shower, and only hot water 50% of the time.
• You may have a change to visit another country, Uruguay! I went and had a great time.

The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, from the vibrant streets of Buenos Aires to the stunning landscapes of Rio de Janeiro. Every activity was amazing, whether we were exploring the iconic landmarks or enjoying exhilarating adventures.
The food was a highlight, with delicious local dishes that truly showcased the culture. The blend of rich traditions and friendly locals made the experience even more special. I made some great friends along the way, and our tour guide was fantastic—knowledgeable, engaging, and always ready to ensure we had the best time possible.
Overall, this trip was an unforgettable journey filled with adventure, culture, and great company. If you’re looking for a memorable travel experience, I highly recommend traveling with Contiki!
