Itinerary

For families eager to uncover southern Africa’s contrasts, the 11-day Namibia to Cape Town Accommodated trip offers a seamless route from Windhoek’s bustle to Cape Town’s iconic coastline. Traverse Spitzkoppe’s granite peaks, the lively streets of Swakopmund, and the scenic Cederberg before arriving in South Africa’s mother city. With accommodation, transport, and meals included, this guided explorer tour lets you focus on shared experiences. Its unique appeal lies in the rich tapestry of landscapes and cultures encountered along the way, making it a top pick for those wanting both adventure and comfort in their tour package.

day 1 - Windhoek to Etosha National Park

Departing Windhoek, Namibias capital city, we make our way north to the Etosha National Park. At over 20,000 sq km in area, is surrounds a salt pan and is famous for its well-managed water holes that sustain some 114 mammals and 340 bird species. Here we will have an afternoon game drive before settling into our accommodation for the evening. The lodge offers a floodlit water hole for an evening game viewing experience.

day 2 - Etosha National Park

Today, we enjoy a full day in the park exploring the intricate road systems and water holes in search for the numerous grazing antelope, elephant, lion and giraffe frequently spotted. We make our way to our accommodation for the evening and enjoy our last night around the lodges floodlit water hole to observe the nocturnal animals coming in to drink.

day 3 - Etosha National Park to Spitzkoppe

Today we game drive out of Etosha National Park, heading south to the beautiful Damaraland region where we explore Spitzkoppe. This magnificent rock formation reaches a peak of 1800m above sea level, and creates breathtaking views especially around sunset and sunrise. The most impressive ancient bushman rock painting Bushman Paradise is found here and you may get to view this on a walk.

day 4 - Spitzkoppe to Swakopmund

This morning we leave Spitzkoppe and make our way to the cooler coastal town of Swakopmund by the Atlantic ocean. This town resembles a small German town with its architectural buildings, palm-lined streets, seaside promenades, restaurants, cafes, art galleries and museums. We spend the next 2 nights in Swakopmund enjoying the various different activities on offer.

day 5 - Swakopmund

Today you have a free day to take on some of Swakopmunds activities such as sky diving, sandboarding or quad biking in the desert. If you fancy something different, visit the local beaches, eat at the local restaurants and enjoy the towns vibrant cafe culture.

day 6 - Swakopmund to Solitaire Area

Leaving the coastal plateau,we head inland, via picturesque moon landscapes and rugged passes, pausing for a photo stop at the Tropic of Capricorn. Our accommodation for the night is under canvas in a picturesque setting, in a quaint desert camp, in the Khomas region of central Namibia.

day 7 - Solitaire Area to Sesriem Area

This morning we leave our camp early and make our way to the Namib Naukluft National Park. Here we trek up Dune 45 for spectacular views over the rolling sunkissed dunes. After a rewarding breakfast, we head deeper into the park and enjoy a short shuttle ride to Dead Vlei. This breathtaking white clay pan with dead camel thorn trees is set amidst towering dunes - offering majestic photo opportunities.

day 8 - Sesriem Area to Fish River Canyon

Today we drive through barren landscapes and rocky mountains dotted with quiver trees to one of Africas natural wonders, the Fish River Canyon. This wondrous canyon is the second largest canyon in Africa being 550m deep and 161km long. We enjoy an afternoon walk along the edges admiring the deep ravines and meandering waterways.

day 9 - Fish River Canyon to Gariep Orange River, Namibia

Rising early, we make our way further south through rugged landscapes and rocky outcrops to our base for the evening - located in a tranquil setting on the banks of the Gariep Orange River. Time here is at leisure to either relax on the waters edge, swim, or to take an optional canoe safari.

day 10 - Gariep Orange River to Cederberg Region

Leaving Namibia behind, we cross the border to South Africa and pass through Namaqualand, known for its prolific display of wildflowers that bloom around August and September and continue south to the Cederberg region of South Africa. At our accommodation, we have the opportunity to taste the wines locally produced in the area, or simply relax by the pools edge with a nice cool beverage and a good book.

day 11 - Cederberg Region to Cape Town

Today we make our final journey passing through Citrusdal to the Western Cape Province and then on to Cape Town where our tour ends.
