About

I grew up in Czechoslovakia and have lived in France and Singapore. I set out to discover the world as soon as the Berlin wall collapsed, and at 22 came to Singapore to study Mandarin. Years living, studying and working in different countries plus having two “third culture” children with my Swiss-French husband has given me a broad understanding and appreciation for diversity.

After learning the art of tour guiding as a volunteer guide in the National Museum of Singapore and Malay Heritage Centre, I reinvented myself as a professional tour guide to share the passion for my island home. I am a licensed Singapore Tourist Guide and Certified Docent at the National Museum of Singapore and Malay Heritage Centre.

Travelling makes up a huge part of who I am. I love to keep busy while discovering new places, from mountain hikes and skiing in Europe to camping and trekking in the jungles of Southeast Asia. In a city or off the beaten track, my appetite for travel never ends.

With an interest in history, culture, architecture, and languages, I love connecting the cultural dots. I also speak English, French, Mandarin and Czech.

Pavla's best travel experience

Gustave Flaubert said, “Travel makes one modest, you see what a tiny place you occupy in the world”.

I cannot choose just one travel experience because discovery and travel have been an integral part of my life. They will forever remain engraved in my memory like the breathtaking views from Mount Rinjani volcano crater rim, the symphony of calls to prayer in Istanbul, the infinity of the Great Wall of China covered with snow, the magic of Borobudur temple at sunrise or Prague’s unique panorama.

Why is Pavla the right travel expert

My caring and positive attitude means I enjoy relating to people from different walks of life.

I also love sharing my deep interest in this country's fascinating heritage. There is a unique cultural history supported by period architecture. This develops into the stunning modern structures of today, many of which make up our impressive city skyline. Being a tour guide in Singapore is a very rewarding experience!
