Thanks to the very swift reply of Thinley and his team an easy booking of my 13 days of stay in Bhutan was complete in 3 days including flights to Paro and e-Visa. Thinley was always responsible to my needs during my stay. This local travel specialist does have excellent connections so that my trekking was led by an experienced mountain guide and a team, which made my trekking experience very safe. They do also have a wide variety of 3* to 5* hotels, which accommodate everybody’s need. As a trekker I chose 3* hotels and was very happy.

For many of our trips, trekkers arriving from low level to climb Kilimanjaro often suffer from altitude sickness if they do not acclimatise properly (lack of fitness is rarely a big problem). Therefore on Kilimanjaro we use mainly the Machame Route. It's longer than the Marangu ascent and therefore means 2 more days on the mountain (and more expense), but it's less crowded, an easier climb and much more scenic. You do not need to be super fit for this trek but you should get out for a few weekends on some longish hikes before the trip - or, jog for three or four kilometres a couple of times a week to get a basic level of fitness. That will enable you to enjoy the trek much more. You will see that as well as treks and wildlife safaris we offer our clients insights into the way of life and cultures of local communities. By spending some time in local villages and visiting cultural activity programmes you get a much more rewarding and richer safari experience and the local people get a more direct share of the benefits that foreign visitors can bring. This is a very important part of our work in East Africa.

My whole experience from booking my trek to the actual trek its self was very professional with Maasai Wanderings. I knew I was in good hands when I my emails were responded to quickly and I was provided a list of answers to my enquires. The guides were very friendly and professional and had great English and were able to give my information on the landscape itself and also help encourage me every step of the way. I would not have made it to the top without their encouragement and singing! My tent and mattress were comfortable and the food was also great considering were climbing a mountain. Overall I would highly recommend climbing Kili with Maasai Wanderings. You can tell that the staff are happy and well looked after by the company as they are long standing team members.

I was part of a group of 3 hikers wishing to climb Kilimanjaro via the Machame route in 7 days. The experience was great and landscapes so amazing. In fact it was the second time I climbed Kilimanjaro. I wanted to renew this experience because the first time the weather conditions was very cloudy the three first days and also I was not completely satisfied of the company I chose at that time. As such, I selected Maasai Wanderings for the good reviews I had and also because it is part of the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (you can have more details here: http://www.mountainexplorers.org/) that was a concern for me after my first experience. And what I can say is that I have not been disappointed, everything was perfect from the beginning to the end. We were guided by Julius and his team that I recommend. He is a very nice guy, likable, always calm, encouraging you and giving all information required when you need it. He is adapting to you, and most of the time the first days, slowing you down to maximize a progressive acclimatization. I was interested by flowers and history of Kilimanjaro (snow cover, geology) and this guy is a big library. Food was very good, varied and always in good quantity. It is surprising to see what the cooker is able to do in such conditions. There was a big mess tent where all meals were taken when it was not possible outside. The cooker is cooking just in front of you. The tent had also two extension rooms on each sides dedicated for staff (relaxing/sleeping). It was funny to see that despite of the altitude, the coldness etc. they were always happy, smiling, talking all time etc. Everybody was dressed properly and adapted to the mountain conditions, even for the shoes. This is important to note because I have been very sad when I saw few other porters from other companies dressed just with a tee-shirt with holes everywhere or not descent shoes. When we reached the last camp (Barafu Hut) at around 13:00, one of the porter was sick and Julius, the guide, decided to escort him down to the gate quickly. He was back to Barafu Camp few hours before we left the camp to climb the final step and came with us! Everybody in the team successfully reached the top Uhuru Peak and of course everybody was very happy. Once again it has been an excellent trip and experience. I keep a lot of good memories. For these reasons I recommend clearly Maasi Wanderings, for the quality of the guiding, the food, the tents, the team, all the equipments provided (and in good shape).

My wife and I just returned from an amazing 11-day trip to Costa Rica. Yuliana helped us to put together a private tour designed specifically for us. No amount of time and effort would have let us do it ourselves. We were most interested in the landscape and animals, and our private driver was able to take us to fabulous sights. We stayed in unusual accommodations including a tree house in the jungle and a villa at the Arenal volcano. In late November 2025, four friends and I from India did the Marangu Route with Aardvark Expeditions, and it was a great experience every step of the way. In the weeks leading up to our climb, we exchanged many emails with the Aardvark Expeditions sales staff. Their quick responses and thorough explanations were what persuaded us to book with them. While climbing, our guide (Gabriel and Fred) were extremely professional. They adapted their pace to ours, provided encouraging words and advice to help us acclimatise, and made sure we were safe at all times. The food that Erik and Abuu prepared was another highlight. The meals were fresh, filling and served to us with a smile. Aardvark Expeditions made our first Kili attempt feel possible, secure and fun. Highly recommended!

Our 8-day Lemosho Route Climb was a wonderful opportunity to climb Mount Kilimanjaro with our companions from India and family members from the United States of America. They kept climbers safe, happy and comfortable throughout each stage of the trek. We reached the summit of Kilimanjaro with a sense of accomplishment, confidence and pride.
