This is a new option for prospective visitors to Costa Rica and one I would unreservedly recommend. The anticipated daily downpours didn't materialise [ though, of course there was some rain ], and we spent most of the trip observing fantastic wildlife in dense jungle or warm, blue seas under blue skies. The hotels were all comfortable and well located and the mix between activity and leisure was well planned.
A fabulous introduction to a fabulous country. What made it really special was our guide, Armand, whose love for his country was evident in everything he did. Armand also made sure that everyone in the group was OK - I struggled with a couple of activities but I was never made to feel like I was a burden or slowing everyone down. A couple of hotels were on the basic side, but the rest were exceptional, in one case downright luxurious. There is a lot of travelling on terrible roads, and our driver Arivola and his assistant Fetra deserve a special mention. So many highlights, but if I had to choose one it would be the mouse lemurs. If I can choose two I’d add the chameleons!
I really enjoyed this tour, it gives a very good overview of the country, culture, National Parks, everyday life, etc. We used a minibus all the way through and it worked very well. The local tour leader was outstanding.
The ship and guides (Usiel & Hulbert) are amazing, truly top notch. The pace allowed you to see animals of all varieties and the food was delicious! The musicianship of the boat staff was a wonderful surprise, too!
