Journeys: Iconic Thailand was a fabulous experience!!! We had the most wonderful tour guide (shout out to Natthanan Chai Yenklom--the very best!!!!) who looked after every detail and made the experience comfortable and enjoyable for each person on the trip. I loved the varied activities--the home visit and cooking class in Chiang Mai; Ko Klang Island and Hong Island in Southern Thailand; and the amazing temples in Bangkok were particular highlights for me on the trip. I would do another National Geographic Journeys/G Adventures tour in the future!
Ive used intro twice now and have loved both of my trips! Recently done the Bali experience trip which was amazing!! Highly recommend, get to do so many amazing experiences and had such an amazing group leader, thanks to Niamh!
Pack up the troupe and head into Borneo's lush jungles on a family adventure. Keep an eye out for proboscis monkeys on a scenic cruise down the Kinabatangan River, or watch intelligent orangutangs on a visit to one of Borneo's best animal sanctuaries. Learn about a bygone era with an eye-opening visit to a Dusun village and wander through vast tea plantations in Ranau. Stop off at the idyllic Dinawan Island and see the colourful fish living beneath its shimmering waters. Everywhere you look, this island is brimming with unforgettable memories.
Excellent. I went looking for an adventure & I found it. I was humbled by the experience & I have a greater appreciation for what is most important in life - that's happiness. Thailand is truly magical & I'll be definitely going back one day.

Far from ‘just another island getaway’, Indonesia is in many ways a whole world of its own, a sprawling constellation of islands all with something unique to offer. Spend 24 days exploring the diversity of this beautiful country, starting out in Indonesia’s wild west – on the island of Sumatra –and travelling east through Java and into Bali (everybody’s favourite island getaway for a reason). Move effortlessly from Christian Batak to Hinduism and Buddhism, remote jungles to vast beaches, volcano valleys to urban villages and streetside warungs to temple complexes. For the ultimate South East Asian adventure, take the dive – with a small group of like-minded travellers and an expert local leader!

I recently went on the incredible G Adventures Vietnam Family tour and it exceeded all my expectations! The tour company was outstanding, providing seamless and well-organized experiences from start to finish. Every moment was a delight, from the breathtaking sights to the engaging activities. The food was absolutely delicious, offering a perfect blend of local flavors and gourmet dishes. Every part of the tour was a home run, making it an unforgettable adventure that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a truly exceptional travel experience.
We had a fabulous couple of weeks in Thailand with Explore. The tour visited most of the places we had hoped to go to independently but cut out all the stress of trying to organise it. There was enough unstructured free time to do a few little tours of our own. Our tour guide Super Jeff was fantastic and the whole group were really sad to say goodbye to him at the end. Lots of fun opportunities to travel on or jump into water. Other members of group were interesting and fun. Lots of great food. The two night train trips were surprisingly comfortable and easy. My family loved the Thai boxing morning. Good mix of culture, adventure, beach. The only disappointment was the day boat trip to Ang Thong marine reserve - very busy and touristy, long time on big boat, food not great and the snorkelling was almost non-existent. We wished we'd taken the day off on our own to spend more time on the beach or take a proper snorkelling tour.
A real Borneo adventure. Trek rainforest and jungle trails in search of wildlife such as Orangutan, ascend limestone pinnacles and climb Mt Kinabalu. This is Borneo as few ever experience it - a journey through ancient rainforests, Indigenous homelands and high mountain trails that reveals the wild heart of the island. Designed for active, curious travellers, this immersive Borneo trekking tour combines rich cultural connection, unique wildlife encounters and spectacular landscapes.
Beginning in Kuching, we explore Sarawak’s colonial past and Indigenous heritage before travelling deep into the forest by longboat to stay at the remote Nanga Sumpa longhouse. Here, we spend time with the Iban people and venture out on foot in search of orangutans, macaques and hornbills in their natural habitat. We continue upriver to jungle camps, swim in waterfalls and walk trails few others will ever access.
Next, we fly to Mulu National Park - home to one of the world’s largest cave systems and the dramatic limestone Pinnacles of Gunung Api. Trekking through pristine rainforest, we climb to a viewpoint overlooking these 45-metre (148-foot) high stone spires, rising sharply from the jungle below.
In Sabah, we ascend Mount Kinabalu (4095m/13,435ft), Borneo’s highest peak, trekking through ever-changing ecological zones — from lowland forest to alpine scrub - to witness sunrise above the clouds. The journey concludes on the Kinabatangan River, where dawn and dusk wildlife cruises offer sightings of proboscis monkeys, elephants and rare birdlife, all within one of Southeast Asia’s most biodiverse ecosystems.
Throughout the adventure, we stay in simple lodges and jungle camps, work with expert local guides and contribute to long-standing conservation and community-based tourism efforts. It’s an unforgettable multi-activity adventure - rich in biodiversity, culture and achievable challenges.
Steamy Sumatra is a rugged jungle paradise for all types of adventurers. The world’s sixth largest island is teeming with untamed nature and is home to many endangered species, including the Sumatran tiger, rhinoceros, elephants and the acclaimed orangutan. On this ten-day Sumatran expedition, travel from Medan to Bukit Lawang and explore Gunung Leuser National Park. Head to Berastagi and hike up the steaming active volcano Sibayak, basking in the glory of misty panoramas from the summit. Finish in Samonsir on Lake Toba, where the colourfully dressed Christian Batak people welcome you.
