We recently completed this tour, and it was an absolutely mesmerizing experience. From the moment we left Marrakech, we were taken on a journey through some of Morocco's most stunning landscapes, including the majestic High Atlas Mountains, the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, and the vast, serene dunes of Erg Chigaga. The drive was long but scenic, and every stop offered a chance to appreciate Morocco’s history and natural beauty, from ancient kasbahs to lush oases. Spending the night in the desert under a blanket of stars was a highlight—our camp was luxurious, with comfortable beds and an authentic Moroccan ambiance. Riding camels across the dunes at sunset was an unforgettable experience.
A huge part of what made this tour so special was our driver, Hakim. He was not only an excellent driver but also a fantastic guide, sharing his extensive knowledge of Morocco’s history, culture, and geography. Hakim made us feel safe and well-cared for throughout the entire journey, and his friendly demeanor and sense of humor added a personal touch to the trip. His expert driving skills ensured a smooth and comfortable ride, even on the rough desert roads, and he was always ready to make stops for photo opportunities or interesting landmarks. I almost didn’t book this trip, thinking I’d be “too old for a cruise tour” or that it would be rushed, crowded, or filled with too much sightseeing and not enough space to breathe. But let me tell you, this tour completely changed my mind. It wasn’t just doable it was deeply enjoyable. Everything was thoughtfully organized, accessible, and paced just right for someone like me in my early 60s who still loves to explore but isn’t looking to be on the go from dawn to dusk without a pause.
We traveled as a group yes but it never felt like we were being shuffled from one place to the next. There was enough structure to feel secure and taken care of but also these little pockets of stillness that I didn’t expect... a quiet cup of coffee on the cruise deck while the Nile slowly moved past even a moment of meditation I did on my own by the river. Those little moments made all the difference.
The temples were something else. Edfu and Philae in particular struck me, not just because of their size or detail, but their presence. There’s a certain quiet power in these places that you only feel by standing there in person. And then of course the Grand Pyramids. I thought I’d seen them already in books and documentaries, but being there… it gave me chills. There’s something about seeing them up close that stirs something ancient and humbling in you.
I came home with more than just photos...I came back with a sense of connection to something much bigger than myself. This tour wasn’t just a vacation. It was an experience that touched me deeply, at just the right pace, and reminded me that it’s never too late to feel wonder again.

From the moment I arrived in Casablanca to my departure from Marrakech, every detail was taken care of with precision and elegance. The entire tour was a seamless blend of adventure, luxury, and cultural immersion.
The tour began with a warm welcome at the airport, followed by smooth transfers to beautiful hotels, many of which were luxurious 5-star riads and kasbahs. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable, and each city, from Rabat to Fes and Marrakech, revealed layers of Moroccan history and culture that I would have never discovered on my own. I particularly enjoyed the private, guided tours in Fes and Marrakech, where I explored hidden gems within the medina and learned about local crafts and traditions.
One of the highlights was the Sahara desert experience. Riding camels into the golden dunes and spending the night at a luxurious desert camp was surreal. The entire setup, with its opulent tents and delicious meals, made me feel like royalty under the starlit sky. This was definitely a bucket-list experience, and this tour operator made it unforgettable.
The hot air balloon ride over Marrakech was another unforgettable highlight. The views of the city and the surrounding Atlas mountains at sunrise were simply breathtaking.
Additionally, I want to commend this tour company for their exceptional service. Our driver was professional, punctual, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the entire journey. The small details, like arranging meals in local spots or offering personalized recommendations, were a nice touch that really elevated the trip.
This trip was suggested to me by a friend, but as an 83 year-old who ‘peaked’ more than 10 years ago I had some reservations about going on it. However, my fears were put to rest when I saw that the same hotel was used before and after the most challenging stage – the 14-mile final stretch of the northern trail, including the crossing of Mount Pantokrater. But in the event, although the terrain is hilly with some steep climbs I didn’t find any of the walking particularly difficult. It helped that a lot of the journey was on shady woodland tracks. Mt Pantokrator was quite an easy climb, the only challenge being the length of the day and the distance.
Not having visited Corfu before I found it a fascinating place, and have many vivid memories of the trip. We were fortunate to have, in Spiros, a leader who was very knowledgeable about local history, politics and wildlife. He worked very hard to make the holiday enjoyable for us, including leading us on a beautiful coastal walk to Kassiopi on the free day. I only wish I had discovered the island earlier so that I could walk the southern section as well.
