You really do need two weeks to cicumnavigate Sicily and see things properly. Any shorter and you'll get just a couple highlights or get very rushed from place to place. This tour had good pace, gave sufficient time in major sites (Syracuse, Agrigento, Palermo, Villa del Casale) and included gems like Morgantina, Mozia Island, and Enna.
Antonio is an exceptional wealth of information, its obvious he has a professional background in Sicilian history. The level of historical, cultural and architectural background information was tremendous, helped greatly to put things in context and understand the flow and changes absorbed by this island that resulted in what we were seeing.

My itinerary was well planned and I think the experience was of good value for money. The variety of accommodations were welcoming and clean. I especially liked the GPX/GPS files on the daily routes. The communications were impeccable. My only request is that the trip package be provided a month prior to the start of the walk. I usually travel to the starting point about a week prior to the commencement of the walk to get over jet lag, etc.

This was my first trip with Explore and it didn't dissapoint. The overall itinerary made for a diverse and challenging trek for me. The group was of mixed ages and we gelled quickly. The tour guide Alpa was local and competent and filled the group with confidence in our abilities. Off the beaten track I felt I saw the real Turkey and I appreciated that experience. Accommodation was very comfortable to excellent. Meals were excellent. The overnight stay in the mountains was a particular highlight. The guides were excellent in terms of their skills, knowledge and to manage unexpected complication such as an early season snow fall. Highly recommended.
