Reviews of our West Africa Experienced Traveler Tours
Our Experienced explorers reflect on their cultural journeys through West Africa.
Sean Buckley was absolutely the best part of our tour. Keeping us informed and entertained the way thru. Our trip to Malzards pub was so much fun as was the distillery. The Giants Causeway-amazing. The history in our city tours was fascinating. We had a lovely time.
A fast paced tour, with plenty of walking. Our leader Andreas was excellent, always going out of his way to book extra activities for group if needed during free time and giving suggestions. He was passionate about Portugal, enthusiastic, extremely well organised and looked after all needs in the group brilliantly.
The itinerary was excellent starting and ending on the "big name" places of Kotor and Dubrovnik that everyone knows about, but in between we saw many facets of the Balkans and experienced wonderful scenery at almost every turn and learned a bit about the history of the area too. Most of us were however unaware that we spent over half the trip at 1000m+ in the mountains of Montenegro and Serbia and weren't quite as prepared as we might have been so a little more advice on that (especially for shoulder season itineraries) would have been of benefit. I'd also definitely recommend you spend a couple more days in Dubrovnik if you have the time as the walking tour was great but more time to properly explore is needed. Danielija our tour leader was excellent, thoughtul, helpful and great company. Her suggestions for dinner restaurants were always spot on and the guides she found for us were all first rate.
Madeira is a hiking paradise, trails were good, great vistas, nice food, friendly people and our trip-leader Benny was superb! We were very pleased with everything, this trip was one of our best so far among two others we had with Explore.
The Tour and Tour Guide were outstanding! However, it is misnamed… It is not Easy Pace! Nine of 31 participants used canes. We had to walk great distances to visit the sights. Golf carts or mini vans could have been used to transport between the bus and the sight visited.
It covers all the major cities and towns and gives a great overall picture of the 4 countries as well as travelling through the countryside to cover a great distance in the allotted time. We visited Santa, met his reindeers, viewed huskies being trained, went as far north as possible on the mainland and saw amazing scenery. We can thoroughly recommend this trip.
