Reviews of our West Africa Guided Tours
Guests share how our guided trips made West Africa seamless and insightful.
The whole trip was very well organised and varied giving the group many different experiences. From cycling through paddy fields, making silk lanterns, eating Vietnamese tasting menus to seeing key sites in the cities. All facilitated by Thin our fantastic local guide who made the whole trip fun and informative.
This was an absolutely incredible trip and two weeks away felt like a month due to the immersive nature of the holiday and the fullness and variety of the itinerary and accommodation. India is an amazing country and to cycle through it with Explore is the best and most fun way to see it. The weather was perfect, as was the food-lovely to have so much choice as a vegetarian! Local people were very friendly and it felt safe. Our guide Sam worked hard to spot extra adventures for us, and one of the most special was stopping the coach to see an elephant being washed, dressed and paraded as part of a Hindu festival. This trip was graded as leisurely to moderate, but was definitely more on the leisurely side with some painfully slow cycling days and some very short cycles. So if you’re a seasoned cyclist, do manage your expectations. Nonetheless, we did still get a better pace and some good hills in on some days. This holiday wouldn’t be suitable for anyone who is nervous cycling around potholes or busy traffic and roads.
For me everything from the beginning to the end was seamless. I didnt have to do a thing and as an agent with clients it was a real blessing to actually sit back and enjoy being on vacation with them! Having been to Ireland before my group kept asking me so you probably already did this, but I hadn't. I got to enjoy everything for the first time with them. My dream was to see the Cliffs of Moher and the weather was beautiful that day. I couldn't have asked for a better trip not only for myself, but for my clients to experience as well.
I have no complaints whatsoever concerning the sleeping arrangements and meals on this trip. However, the place we stayed at at kangaroo Island had really really bad Wi-Fi connections. If you were willing to stay up past midnight, you could get a reliable Wi-Fi otherwise, even phone calls were dropped. If you’re visiting from another part of the world and don’t have data, you really need reliable Wi-Fi.
This tour was excellent in delivering all of the different types of landscape and natural beauty of such a large and diverse beautiful country. Obviously to cover all of this there needs to be long days and early starts but this is clear when booking and absolutely worth it. The tour leader Andre was outstanding. Would highly recommend this tour, we had a fantastic time.
Great trip. Excellent itinerary, but many long days and late arrivals at many of the hotels. Had a very comfortable and large bus with plenty of empty seats and space to stretch out. Tour leader didn’t provide a lot of info unless specifically asked. Hotels were good, some were far away from the sights and that meant additional time driving back and forth. Loved the camel market. Enjoyed AlUla and the camp stay. The camp was far away from the sights we were visiting but it was comfortable, quiet, allowed for morning walks in the desert and the food was good. All the local guides we had were excellent and provided lots of information about the country, traditions and the recent changes.
