Excellent staff, facilities, service and knowledge from the guides. Five stars.
The team made my gap year unforgettable. They made me feel completely safe but I had the biggest adventure of my life. I can't wait to travel with them next year.
We had an amazing time and will never forget the experience! The team were great and we will be back!
Fantastic company, will be visiting again for sure!
Once in a lifetime trip. Loved every minute. Wouldn't have been the same without the staff. What an adventure!
We had the best trip thanks to the amazing and friendly staff. They were very helpful and it was an adventure we will never forget.
Staff were incredible friendly. It wouldn't have been the same experience without them!
We had a fantastic experience with these guys! Myself and my partner can't wait to arrange another trip. Great jobs guys!
Company were very responsive and efficient. Answered all my questions and made sure I had a good time.
Great customer service and tour. Couldn't fault them, so helpful, friendly and knew what they were talking about.
The Nepal Hiking Team is an immature company that lacks professionalism. While the guide and porter were personable, the management of the trek was sub-par. We were not picked up at the airport, although the agent stated he was there, we were asked to pay for the entire trip twice and for the porter twice and asked to produce a receipt that had been provided just a couple of weeks prior (luckily copy was saved), and the agent was late to pick us up for return trip to airport. We took a taxi to the airport both ways. The itinerary was changed (skipped an overnight stop day 4) without informing us and when it was pointed out we were told that perhaps 13 days would be ok rather than 14 days. What? We took a second rest day after the pass to get back on schedule and deal with illnesses, but missed exploring some nicer villages at lower elevation. The worst part of the trip was that our guide was sick on day one with a terrible cough and cold, which within 4 days was passed on to us. We asked the guide if he was sick, but he denied it early in the trip and then admitted he was going to the hospital when we return because he had been sick for the two weeks prior to the trek. Therefore, we were both very sick for the remainder of our 'vacation' and a week upon returning home are still battling the illness. The guide handles and/or prepares our food, so there was no escaping the illness. Recommend using a more established hiking team and ensure that your guide is healthy before you set off. If suspect he isn't - delay start or ask for another guide.
Ganga and Nepal Hiking Team are a professional outfit. They organised an excellent hike for us around the Manaslu Circuit at very short notice and made everything much easier than the other agencies we dealt with. The pre-holiday service was exceptional, with prompt email responses, and Ganga provided us with all the information we needed. On arrival in Kathmandu we were looked after very well and everything was perfectly organised up until the moment when we left. They even accommodated various changes to our itinerary during the hike.
During the hike we had a guide, Bal, and a porter, Shanka. Both were excellent. Bal provided us with a detailed itinerary each day, offered us as much information as we wanted during the hike and looked after us very well - paying careful attention to any altitude sickness symptoms, and was quick to help us across difficult hiking sections. Shanka was a great trekking companion and his help went far beyond what we expected - he was knowledgable about trekking in Nepal, spoke very good English and was great fun to spend time with.
The Nepal Hiking Team handled the whole operation with professionalism and caring. From when we were met at the Airport to the final good bye everything ran very smoothly. The guide Bal and his assistants were excellent catering for all our needs to the extent that when my colleague fell ill and had to go back to Kathmandu one of the assistants took him to his home so my friend could recover. Bal's knowledge of the Circuit was impressive and he kept us informed all the way. His English was spot on. I can recommend the Nepal Hiking Team as well run Agency that everyone will be pleased with.
My 61-year old friend and I had a unforgettable 10-day trek carefully planned by Nepal Hiking Team Pvt Ltd. From the time his staff picked us up to the time we said goodbye at the airport, the entire trip was perfect. This included water rafting and paragliding. Its Managing Director Ganga Raj Thapa was fast and efficient in his email response before and after the trip. I found the charges reasonable. He answered to all my questions and would accede to my requests if reasonable. In person, he's a warm and friendly man that you will feel comfortable with.
The guide that he assigned, Narayan, was also very responsible. Very knowledgeable, informs us what to expect, very patient to wait for us 2 slow men. He took very good care of us, see to any of our needs... charge batteries, got us blankets, refill our bottles with water, be our camera man, he even holds my walking sticks or spectacles whenever I am taking pictures. He's very fit and could climb Everest, problem is that he doesn't have the money to do it.
The porter, Lal, was just as amazing in his role. He could carry our stuff of 30kg for the entire 10 days, where we could easily trekked over 160km, ascended and descended over 15,000 stone steps, not forgetting the last stretch from MBC to ABC where oxygen level dropped to 50%. Despite all these, he is grateful that he has a job.
Together they served us extremely well .. at meal times, they doubled up as waiters. At lunch, they ate their meals after us.. at dinner, they ate their meals .. after ALL the trekkers in the guest house had theirs .. and those trekkers are NOT even their customers.
They did not sleep after we slept .. they slept only after ALL the trekkers in the guest house had slept .. and those trekkers are NOT even their customers .. because due to the lack of proper rooms, they can only sleep in the dining room.
Our tips for them increased as each day passed. Hence dear trekkers, give generously when you are there, .. they deserved more.
We may return to Nepal and although we can choose to do a different trek like the Everest Base Camp trek, we will definitely NOT choose a different company. Can change treks but cannot change company.
What separated our trip from great to priceless was the Nepal Hiking Team. Our guide Baal submerged us in local flare and information. He told jokes and was always making us laugh. Our porters Prokash and Prim met us with warm smiles and high fives whenever we made it to our days destination. The details are what matter to me and everything was taken care of. I always felt safe and well informed. Even before we set foot in Nepal, Ganga answered all my emails immediately with fluent English responses which put me at ease. We were met at the airport and from the minute we were picked up our every need was catered to. It was a life changing experience and I honestly think that was 100% due to the Nepal Hiking Team. Im officially addicted to Nepal and will be coming back as soon as possible to do another trek with the Nepal Hiking Team.
Nepal Hiking Team is an honest and helpful travel agency, i was trap at Lukla due to bad weather, flight has been cancelled for few days before i arrived Lukla. I was afraid and seeking help from Nepal Hiking Team to bring forward my flight as i don't want to miss any chances if there is any flight available, unfortunately my flight was cancelled as well even though Mr Balaram/Mr Ganga managed to bring my flight forward. In the end, i left Lukla with a chopper by sharing the cost with other tourists.....When i back to Kathmandu, i met up with Mr Ganga, he was concerned about me and returned the flight money to me automatically by showing the calculation in details, i was very surprise and happy with his honesty! if you deal with bad agency, they will choose to be silent but Nepal Hiking Team is honest to me, and i am very happy with that! definitely i will go back to Nepal Hiking Team again for my future upper mustang hike!
Very well organised agency. The managing director met me at the airport on arrival in Katmandu. Everything as promised in the package, with the exception of the trekking map (he forgot it but no big deal). Very good guide who spoke good English, very professional and helpful. Extras such as safe drinking water, wifi, alcoholic drinks not included in package. 3.25% if you pay by credit card the remainder if the price once in Katmandu.
We are so happy we choose to trek with Nepal Hiking Team. From the moment we landed in Kathmandu we were cared for. We were greeted by Ganga at the airport with a warm welcome. Ganga is a lovely genuine guy and wants you to feel comfortable. We were taken to our hotel and ran through the intinerary. The hotel was perfect and in a fab location, just at the top of the Thamel and everything from restaurants, shops, bars, German bakeries, cafes etc right on your doorstep. Our hotel jn Pohkara is was an excellent location aswell!
The trek was the perfect amount of time for us! Our guide, Paban, looked after us from start to finish. He was very patient with us, a lovely guy and he had a real passion for trekking which was lovely to see. Couldn't have asked for a nicer guide! Our porter Lalman was also lovely and helped us along the way aswell! We felt very comfortable with them and we had an awesome time!
We stayed in lovely guest/tea houses along the way which are standard but authentic and added to the whole trekking experience. All the guest houses are the same standard, some better than others. So if you're looking for luxury accommodation then maybe trekking isn't for you. Nepal Hiking Team choose the best ones and ones they have been using time and time again.
We took the Poonhill Trek in August.
I would recommend Nepal Hiking Team to everyone, amazing company and well run by lovely people! You'd be silly not to choose them!
Thanks for organizing my most unforgettable trek to Everest Base Camp. I inquired on quite a number of outfitters, and I can say I didn't make a mistake in choosing NHT. Their package is reasonably priced and their service is excellent. I have no complains on their choice of hotel in Kathmandu and lodges along the trek.
I have just got to say that these guys are amazing - safety, professionalism, caring and being accommodating are values these guys live by and it really puts your mind at ease. At points on the trek your body will work it’s hardest both mentally and physically, between my guide Bal and being in constant communication with Balaram (management)I was always aware that if an accident were to happen I would be taken care of. Even at the end of the trek Hari and Ganga went out of their way to help me explore the rest of Nepal at their own expense just to ensure I made the most of my trip. I cannot recommend these guys enough for any trekking and adventure related activities in Nepal!
We had an absolutely wonderful experience. They were very professional and helpful from the first contact to eventually leaving Nepal.
We missed our connecting flight from Kuala Lumpur through to Kathmandu, and were delayed by a full day. Our trip was simply rescheduled without any problem to us at all. They were amazing.
The guide we had for our Kathmandu tour, was extremely knowledgeable and informative and there were certainly a lot of interesting things to see and do in Kathmandu.
We then proceeded on our Manaslu Circuit Trek with our guide Bim and our porters. The guides and porters were informative, helpful, observant, and fun as well. The trek was definitely an experience of a lifetime; I would highly recommend it. The Larkye La Pass was at times strenuous, but Bim and our porters made sure that we were safe, had no altitude sickness and we were able to complete this challenging feat.
I just returned from the Annapurna Base Camp trek. I can't express my gratitude enough for their services. I was extremely impressed with the depth of their knowledge- not only the physical aspects of the trek, but also their knowledge of each village. They showed me many interesting sights that I could have easily missed had I been with someone less knowledgeable. They also had good insight on each village and it's inhabitants.
I trekked with NHT and the inimitable Balaram to Everest Base Camp in April 2016. Could not have asked for a better experience -- or a better price. The guides were attentive without being obtrusive and they made sure all our needs were met, not an easy task with a 12-person party of (for the most part) large personalities. I recommend Nepal Hiking Team unreservedly.
I recently returned from Nepal and prior to booking my trip I consulted with 8 different companies all with excellent trip advisor reviews. Upon communicating with all of them and negotiating a price I decided to go with Nepal Hiking team. I was not disappointed. I was welcomed after two days of flying to get to Kathmandu at 11:30 pm with plenty of smiles and a ride to the hotel from the airport. The EBC trek was amazing with Shiva as my guide. I was the only one in the group and he put so much effort in to making sure everything was well. He asked on numerous occasions if there was anything he could do to make my experience better, and every day we were hiking he consistently made sure I was doing okay. He reinforced the importance of going slow to avoid altitude sickness and we did. People finished an hour, 2 hours before us and some of those people ended up sick the following days, and Shiva called it. He said, "This is why we take our time, there is no rush for us." I felt accomplished making it to EBC, and I felt that Shiva played an important role in getting me there safe. I know Ganga and Hari are the guys running this company and I credit them for a job well done, but it also helps to have guides that are polite and put the client first. I hope they read this review and recognize Shiva for a job well done.
The Chitwan experience was also great. They arranged a bus for me and provided transport to the bus and to pick me up. The guide in Chitwan was knowledgeable and passionate about his job, which made it great for those visiting.
My package also included a Kathmandu site seeing tour, which provided me with a lot of information about Kathmandu and introduced me to some of the main sites. Some of which I revisited on my own time.
I would highly suggest booking with Nepal hiking team. They personally arranged a tour to me outside the dates on their website and I am sure if you have any requests they would be glad to arrange it for you. I wish this company the best, and I hope I can encourage readers to book with them.
I was not the one that did the research to pick this particular hiking team - but I sure am happy that my dad did! While it's fairly easy to buy The Lonely Planet and travel around Kathmandu with a book - it's not as easy to trek the mountains alone or reserve your visa for Bhutan. We hired the Nepal Hiking Team to do both with us and organize our trip to Bhutan. All of this would have been too time consuming if not impossible to plan on our own. There were certainly times when I felt like the team was showing us things that we would not have seen if it wasn't for their wisdom on the places itself. One thing that I can say for certain is that I have found memories, thanks to the organization and kind hearts of the men that were assigned to spend their time with us and it was a trip I will never forget!
Balaram Thapa and his team of four assistant guides were excellent in every respect. They met or exceeded all my expectations of quality of accommodation, food and caring level of service. The trek was challenging but Nepal Hiking Team made it easy for us. I would highly recommend them, if you were planning a visit Nepal.
My wife and I did the Everest Base Camp Trek as organized by Nepal Hiking Team. We read guidebooks and numerous websites leading up to this trip, but nothing quite captured the awesomeness of the just being there in person. Each day of our trek was physically and mentally exhausting, but our guide saw to it that we were looked after - be it on the trail, dining, or settling in at the lodge each night. Nepal Hiking Team did a fantastic job for us; I could not be happier with how this trip was organized, and how Balaram and Ganga took care of us.
It was difficult to choose a tour operator for our EBC trip, but after finally making a decision we were so glad we chose Nepal Hiking Team. Ganga was brilliant to deal with through the booking process and even transferred us from the airport to our hotel the day before our tour commenced. They really went the extra mile to make our experience as great as it could be and keep us safe too.
Highly professional from first contact through to departure. Beautiful caring staff who treated you with utmost respect and friendliness. Quality of the trek for the price could not have been beaten, did not want for more. We would have no hesitation in recommending Nepal Hiking Team.
We made a trip with people from Nepal Hiking Team. The time, witch we spend together was for us very pleasant, our guide Ram and porter Kumar were very kind and caring. With love we remember our Nepal adventure.
I used Nepal hiking Team for my Manaslu trek as I had previously engaged them before. They instilled great confidence in my group, some of whom had never trekked nor been to Nepal before. I wasn't disappointed and plan on engaging them again for a trek this year.
Just came back from an amazing and once in a lifetime trek to EBC with NHT! As a solo traveler I always felt taken care of and in safe hands upon arrival to Kathmandu all the way through my return to the airport.
Ganga was always very prompt and professional with my questions before my departure and very helpful and hospitable while in Kathmandu. I loved the fact that our hotel in Kathmandu was a quick walk away from the famous Thamel shopping area!
Deepak was my guide on the trek and I couldn't have imagined anyone else better for me! He was very fun, cracked jokes, and always tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible. But, more importantly, he always made sure I was feeling well and taken care of on the mountain. Always asking how I felt during and after the days trek to make sure I wasn't in any medical danger. When I did get quite ill from the altitude Deepak had medication to help me.
I had a great experience with NHT and would book with them on my next travels to Nepal!
