Interesting First Trip to Cuba

I wasn’t sure what to expect on my first trip to Cuba. Cuba is a beautiful place, with friendly people, a great culture and lots of untapped potential. I very much enjoyed learning about how it is today from the excellent guides and myCasa host Jorge.

Locally Cuba

We really appreciated how well organised this trip was. Accommodation was perfect. All transport and tours were of a high standard and everything happened exactly as planned and on time. We were able to spend time with friendly locals that were always happy to help us out and share their lives with us.

Our first to Cuba

The accommodations were great. The owner and his family did not live there, but came by each morning to have breakfast for us and help us get started each day. Nicer than the pictures online. Probably the nicest place in the area. 15 minute walk to the bear restaurants in the area. The walk was safe but Old Havana is a fraction of what it once was. The Cuban people are wonderful but are clearly dealing with a tough situation.

Round trip - Best of Cuba

This trip was very well planned. We enjoyed the Casa choices, tours, taxis, etc. everything was punctual. There are no areas where we would suggest improvements.

A wonderful trip to Cuba!

Bookmundi created a wonderful trip to Cuba for us. They suggested two wonderful casa particulares, one in old Havana, and one in the Vedado area, which were both very nice in their very different ways. It was great being an old Havana, where we could walk out the door and directly into the city with all of its many activities. And the Casa particulares in Vedado was very relaxing with its small pool where we could sit out during a hot afternoon, but it did require a taxi to get anywhere. The tour guide for the meet and greet and the oldtimer tour was so knowledgeable about Cuba. And the Tropicana show was fabulous.

A great way to see the country (single parent)

This local travel expert was able to plan a super trip for me and my 9 year old son. We saw so much and the activities were engaging, with breaks to relax and wander at our own pace. Highly recommended.

18 Days Cuba Trip

The travel agency offered us a reasonable price personslized tour including all transfers, accommodation, tours, and 24 hours available local representative from the agency. What I liked most was that the drivers for the private transfers between the cities picked us up from our accommodation and arrived exactly at the agreed time. The drivers and owners of the casa pariculares where we were accommodated were synchronized by the agency and there was no confusion or need for us to personally call the driver to tell him the location from where they should pick us up or to explain to the owner that a taxi driver should come to a certain time. They were already informed about these things. Regarding the tours, they were quite informative and interesting, the guides also collected us on time from the places where we were staying and gave us an intro about the tour as well as a proper review at the end of it. The casa particulares where we stayed in Havana, Santa Clara, Trinidad, and Viñales were clean and the included breakfast was delicious, it seems that the agency has carefully selected the casa particulares they work with. In the personalized trip, apart from the above mentioned casa particulares, we decided to stay a few nights in an all inclusive hotel in Varadero. Although we expected the hotel to be better than casa particulares, we experienced the opposite. The hotels are run by the state and the employees don't bother too much, so there were cases when we didn't have soap and toilet paper in the toilet and nobody put new ones even though we informed the people responsible about it several times. The food at the hotel was great but I can't say the same for the drinks. They put coffee in plastic cups that literally melt in your hand. The beach was on the hotel itself and was great, the ocean water clean and warm with waves. Feelings about staying at the hotel are mixed, but I guess this could be expected in most hotels since they are state-owned. I can't fault the agency for this, because they offered me several alternatives for an all-inclusive hotel and we chose Starfish Varadero All Inclusive based on price and online ratings. However, don't have high expectations for the hotels. Some tips that would make your trip easier: be stocked with wet towels, toilet paper, toothpaste, pads, soaps, shampoos because as you will see the locals have limited number of products that they can buy per month so tourists can buy the same only through a black market or highway market, but not in a local store. So be sure to pack extra hygiene products for your trip to Cuba. I rate my experience with 5/5 because the agency fulfill everything it promised, and was available and flexible whenever we needed it!

Well organised and fascinating country

Cuba is a fascinating country that I enjoyed visiting. While I found it to be a very safe country for tourists, it was helpful to have the trip planned out by knowledgeable guides because things change a lot and you can't rely on internet access!

Very good service

Best impressions, flexibility, support and excellent communication. The casas were clean and the owners knew English so we could communicate easily.

This is not a 'tour'

We recently took a " Mi Cuba" tour Thru "tour radar "company and we were extremely disappointed . We used This company because my friend had done a Tour Radar tour in Colombia and was quite satisfied with it. I read all of the tour info and nowhere in the brochure did it tell us that: a) we were on our own and not with a group or b) we were guiding our own tour We were met in Havana and had an introductory tour of Havana old town but after that it went sharply downhill when our "casa particular" owner handed us a set of bus tickets for the trip and said "Off you go" When we arrived in Vinales, our next destination, there was no one to meet us.We had to borrow a strangers phone as we didn't have internet (you buy internet cards in each town which last for an hour and you use them in a park or your casa) We called the contact to ask "WTF is going on " and we were informed we were just supposed to "follow the App" to find our accommodation,I said we don't have internet and we don't have the accommodation vouchers. He just told us to download the app and use that as a guide and voucher! It then became apparent we had paid $1500 each for a bunch of cheap bus tickets and average accommodation! The only reason we survived was because we both speak Spanish and have traveled extensively . It is absolutely criminal that they are selling this type of "tour" in a difficult country like Cuba and I wanted to make as many people as possible aware of the scam they're running because I know many solo travelers book tours to be with some company.

Havana, Trinidad and Varadero

Tour was fantastic. All outings were very well organized and insightful. Private transfers were brilliant and always early for departure. Great mix of tours. All three stops were different but equally enjoyable. The casas were lovely and we would definitely return to Casa Mamai in Havana. Fantastic reception and lovely people!
