We initially were going to self drive but are very pleased we didn't. Kreshnik was an excellent guide and driver. We had a great mix of culture/history, hiking and everyday Albanian life. Kreshnik ensured we experienced the real Albania and not just the cities. Highly recommend you to visit Albania soon, before it becomes too commercial.

I did this trip with my Father and Brother in one car and it was fantastic. Using Ed's instructions we were able to navigate our way through the Southern mountains of Albania in our 4x4 Lada. The car was amazing and never gave up on us or the challenging routes. We also thought that the roads were the perfect, giving us a range of challenges satisfying all three of us with varying degrees of capability. We ate brilliant food along the way and stayed in great accomodation - the highlight being the evening we spent in a beautiful house with an Albanian couple over-looking the canyon. Even when it rained it just made the trip more exciting and the routes more challenging.
