Aukwatowa Tours is a family business, proudly owned and run by Conrad Mouton. We are a tour operator/ guide, based in Port Nolloth, doing tours in South Africa, the Northern Cape, Western Cape, Namakwaland, Karoo, Richtersveld, Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, Diamond Coast, Richtersveld and Namibia. We also do transfers from Airports in Cape Town and Upington to any destination. We offer an experience, not just another tour.

Aukwatowa Tours owns well maintained vehicles with all the necessary permits and insurances required by the relevant authorities. Our knowledgeable and experienced guides are qualified and registered.

Aukwatowa Tours offers tours & transfers in and around the Northern and Western Cape. All transfers are conducted in air-conditioned vehicles. The size of the vehicle will depend on the number of passengers. However, safety, comfort and pleasure are always our main priorities.

Guests can either make the most of enjoying the cool comfy interior of an air conditioned vehicle when the outside temperatures soar or experience the warm breeze and distinctive smells of the bush in an open vehicle – the choice is yours! We have found a way to cater for the needs of every member of the family. We have a passion for service excellence.
I started my business in 2005, after good consideration of the Tourist Influx in my town Port Nolloth and the Richtersveld.

In 2008 I was selected National Best Tourist Guide in the Welcome Awards at Indaba by SA Tourism. I also was selected in 2009 and 2010 Provincial Finalist for the ETEYA award for my province. In 2014 I was selected Tourism Ambassador for the Northern Cape at the Tourism Indaba held in Durban. My clients are from all over the world. Few countries to mention Germany, the UK, Netherlands, USA, Switzerland, Italy, France, Belgium, Canada, etc.

I was working previously in the Diamond mining Industry and Fish Companies and also serve in the Military as a Medic. I visited London WTM, ITB in Berlin, Philippines and Turkey a few times and attended convention hosted by the World Federation for Tourist Guides.

We are based in Port Nolloth, and normally start and end our Tours here, but through arrangements you can be picked up at the airport in Upington or Cape Town.

We normally structure our tours to include as much as possible, of a variety of things. On the way to the Ai-Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park (a World Heritage site) we like to show our visitors some rare plants, landscapes, rock engravings etc. These amazing places are not necessarily inside the Park. On a “normal” trip, we only reach the Park by the end of the first day.

The Richtersveld consists of the Sandveld on the coast, which is mostly inaccessible ( restricted mining area), then you have the wetlands at the Orange river mouth, the scenic areas along the Orange river, Conservancy areas at Kuboes, Eksteenfontein and Rooiberg, the National Park, and areas outside these formal conservancy areas. It needs to be mentioned that some of the Areas outside the conservancy and Park, are no less spectacular than the parts inside these areas.

Our more popular tours are between 2 and 8 days. Before these trips we establish our client’s personal interests, and put something together that suits them. We start planning a tour with two people, and keep our group sizes to not more than eight people.
On our tours, we supply everything, from the vehicle , equipment, putting up camp where necessary, preparing meals, cleaning up, changing flat tyres (if necessary), drinking water and accommodation before and after the Tour (in Port Nolloth).

In the National Park, we would not be able to cover much of it, as travelling in the Park is generally slow. It is important to make stops, and to do short hikes, to see and appreciate more of the plants, and landscapes, thus we need to do 3 to 6 days in order to cover all.
