Starting and ending in Bad Ischl, the "Austrian Lakes Walk" trip is a guided walking tour that takes 8 days. You will travel through Abersee, Strobl and Bad Ischl in Austria. "Austrian Lakes Walk" is a small group trip which includes accommodation, transport, meals and others.

Enjoy stunning walks in Salzkammergut, the spectacular Austrian Lakes District. The UNESCO World Heritage listed Salzkammergut alpine region of Austria encompasses 76 crystal clear lakes, the Dachstein Glacier, lush summer meadows and impressive rock faces up to 3000 vertical metres high. During this inspiring walk around the lakes, there is ample time to appreciate the natural beauty of the region and the alpine villages of wooden chalets decorated with colourful window boxes while at night you will enjoy the warm hospitality of your hosts. Staying in pensions and small hotels, you can relax and enjoy the satisfying cuisine typical of the region. There will be opportunities to sight fauna including ibex, chamois and marmot along with numerous butterfly species which are endemic to this alpine environment.

Day 2 : Walk via Pfandl and Russbach to Schwarzensee and on to Attersee (7-8hrs)
Day 3 : Walk to St Gilgen and on to Abersee (7-8hrs) - options to shorten
Day 4 : Boat trip on Lake Wolfgangsee or alpine plateau walk, overnight Strobl (2-3hrs or 10hrs)
Day 5 : Walk the Bear Trail to Bad Goisern (8hrs)
Day 6 : Walk to Hallstatt (5hrs)
Day 7 : Walk to Bad Aussee via the Koppen valley (5-6hrs)
Day 8 : Walk to Bad Goisern, train or bus to Bad Ischl (6-7hrs), trip concludes

CANCELLATION

No additional cancellation fees apply for this Austrian Lakes Walk tour. You can cancel the tour up to 73 days prior departure and avoid paying the full amount, but your deposit paid is non-refundable. No refund applies for cancellations within 72 days of departure.

Payment

For any tour departures within 12 November 2024, full payment is required. For tours that depart later than 12 November 2024, a deposit of 197 USD is required to confirm the tour, and the remaining balance will be charged 72 days before trip departure.

Travel Insurance

Austrian Lakes Walk tour requires that you have adequate and valid travel insurance covering medical and personal accidents, including repatriation costs and emergency evacuation. World Nomads offers travel insurance for independent travelers and intrepid families.
