Zhangjiajie is a newly developed international tourist city, it is a prefecture-level city in the northwestern part of Hunan province in China. It comprises the district of Yongding and counties of Cili and Sangzhi.
The main scenic areas in Zhangjiajie are as follows: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park(China's first national forest park), Yangjiajie Nature Reserve, Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve, Suoxiyu Nature Reserve. These four parts are collectively called Wulingyuan Scenic Area which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992 as well as a 5A scenic area by the China National Tourism Administration. What's more, Zhangjiajie was accredited the title of "World Geological Park" and honored as "Number-One Miraculous Mountain in the world" and "The Original Manuscript of Chinese Landscape Painting." It is only 8 kilometers far from the downtown and is one of the most representative natural sceneries of Zhangjiajie.
