Uzbekistan 10-Day Tours and Trips

It was an area of the world I had always wanted to explore and it lived up to expectations. In part to our excellent Tour leader Alex, who was very knowlegeable and companionable. As well as the stunning landscape, history, architecture, food, I could go on! Another benefit was being in such a small group, meant we could all gel together and not have to fight for the leaders attention. Not forgetting the the skill of the driver Edward, ensuring we all arrived safely!

It was an excellent trip with a delightful group many of whom are committed ‘explorers’ who had visited many countries. We all enjoyed the company of our young Uzbek leader whose English was exceptional as well as his pride in his country and his ambition for sustainable tourism. My first trip with ‘Explore’, I was impressed by their determination to fund local family-run small hotels in or just outside the gates of the old cities. Mohammed gave us good tips where we could eat at night and it was splendid to have free time to wander the streets and workshops in our own ways . Everywhere we found great friendliness and welcome even without a common language, though the Uzbeks language skills, particularly among the young are impressive and shaming. Their charm, business sense, command of technology, long tradition of beauty, colour and design in their architecture and crafts, their energy and ambition bodes well for their future prosperity.

The trip was very well run with the tours and transport always smooth and on time. The guides were well informed and there were plenty of breaks and the tours weren't exhausting. The hotels were pleasant especially in Khiva and Tashkent. Our tour leader Fariddun was extremely helpful, well-organised and coped with all sorts of small and larger problems with ease and grace. He never seemed stressed or out of his depth.

Our Uzbekistan trip was just amazing, we had such a good guide and had so much fun. Poor Ganesh had literally thousands of questions to answer but we never would have learnt so much or experienced this amazing country without Ganesh and G

Hotel selection would appear to be driven more by being coach-friendly than location. Difficult to self-tourist on foot. But all of the hotels were very comfortable, Tendency to overshoot the my-brain-is-full sweet spot by about an hour. Shorter guided and more free time would have been good (but the latter assumes a good hotel location). Before we started I thought the day in Nukus was filler. Post-tour I still have that opinion.. But a happy bunny. Glad I went. The local guides were all good and your overall guide, Djasur, was excellent - unfailingly helpful, informative, courteous, and patient. He was probably the major reason the tour was so enjoyable.

This was an amazing experience. Umid was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable about his country’s history and culture. He went out of his way to ensure we got the best from the trip, he sensibly changed things round according to the weather. The hotels were great, some much more luxurious than we would normally stay in but we enjoyed them very much. The sights got more incredible as the journey went on, a photographers dream! Amazing architecture. We were with a great group of fellow travellers too who really helped make it a special holiday. Thank you Explore!
