Start the day with a leisurely swim in the Secret Lagoon, one of the oldest natural geothermal pools in Iceland, nestled amongst bubbling hot springs and a small erupting geyser. Tie your shoelaces and put your adventure hat on because you’re heading to Svínafellsjökull glacier in south Iceland! This glacier expedition takes you on top of the breathtaking Svínafellsjökull Glacier tongue.
You will experience hiking on a glacier and learn the basics of rope work. Your guide will teach you all you need to know about the natural phenomena, outlet glacier of the Vatnajökull glacier, the largest and most voluminous ice cap in Iceland. The perfect expedition into the wonderland of ice formations and ridges.
You will meet your guide at the parking lot at Skaftafell Information Centre, and after a 15 minute drive, you will be at the tip of the Svínafellsjökull glacier tongue. The glacier Svínafellsjökull is located in Skaftafell, the highest mountain range in Iceland. On a clear day, you will be able to see the highest peak in the country, Hvannadalshnjúkur. A very enjoyable tour which gives a great taste of Iceland's culture and landscape. Einar, our tour leader, ensured that all of the practicalities went very smoothly. He is passionate about his homeland, Iceland, and we all learned a lot about this unique country. I would just say that everything is very expensive in Iceland but I was expecting that.

Despite some clear skies the solar activity was low so we did not managed to see the Northern Lights on our tour in Feb 2024. Despite this there is lots packed into this short tour including seeing the sights of the so called Golden Circle (Gullfoss Waterfall; Geysir & Pingvellir) as well as the stunning glacier lagoon and black sand beaches. The highlight however was the walk on the glacier. The weather was perfect so we also managed to get into the ice cave.

Fantastic trip of a lifetime. It surpassed all expectations and more. I only wish it was longer or we had more time to see the Northern lights but that would be trip for another day. As a bit of a volcanic geek, I loved the visits to the lava caves and craters amongst other things. And Kacper was amazing in all that he did to make it go smoothly for the whole group. His cooking skills especially were excellent and so was his knowledge of the region. Couldn't have asked for a better CEO!!
