Cambodian heritage is often linked to the UNESCO-listed temples of Angkor, French colonialism, and the legacies of the Khmer Rouge regime. On this 7-day bike tour, we want to show you that there’s so much more! In the capital, Phnom Penh, we reveal the city’s character beyond its somber reminders of genocide. In the plains of gently flowing rivers, we discover an agrarian world shaped by Buddhist and animist beliefs. And in Siem Reap, the gateway to Angkor, we traverse an ancient landscape of stately temples and hinterlands once ruled by Hindu god-kings, now imbued with rustic rural charm. Each day, we cycle on quiet back roads, immerse ourselves in local life, savor authentic Khmer cuisine, and unwind in cozy hotels. We meet in Phnom Penh and dive into the city with a rickshaw ride through its backstreets, a visit to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, and a stop at the Royal Palace. The next day, we go island hopping in the Mekong River to discover rural silk weaving villages. Then we head north, exploring hilltop stupas at the former capital of Oudong before taking on red-dirt roads to reach the ancient, jungle-covered ruins of Sambor Prei Kuk. Half Day Siem Reap City Tour by Jeep

We will pick you from your hotel at 8.00 a.m for the morning tour or 2.00 p.m for afternoon tour. Our English speaking guide will then take you on an exciting half-day tour which lets you discover the best of Siem Reap on a bike and in a jeep, taking you to the most popular as well as some of the lesser-known areas in Siem Reap. The first part of the tour includes cycling as you're taken through colorful lotus fields and beautiful rice paddies for an experience unlike any other. The next part of the tour includes a trip to to Puok by car. Here, you can collect flowers at the lotus farm and offer them to the Buddha statue at the Pagoda of Puok. Before continuing to to the silk farm, you can buy some fruits at the local market. Get a first-hand experience of how silk is made and how it is used to create silk products at the silk farm. Finally, head back to your hotel.

Mountain Biking the Country side of Siem Riep

We will meet you at your hotel at 7:30 am with the mountain bikes. We will leave Siem Reap and follow some small bucolic roads west of the city. We will cycle through the countryside and cross villages. We will see temples, traditional houses and the daily life of the villagers at the markets and the farmers in the rice fields. At about 9:30 am, we will arrive at the village of Puok where we can visit the local market and the Silk farm, an applied research and vocational training center for all silk-related jobs which is part of Artisans d'Angkor from the Chantiers-Ecoles. This company was created to help young people to find work in their home villages and was quoted as a means to reduce poverty in the world by IMF and UNESCO. There, you will learn the silk production, from the silk-worm breeding to the weaving. We will then continue our ride to reach the Sangkheum Center for Children, an NGO which provides a home for orphaned, abused or neglected children, as well as general education and selected vocational training. We will visit the center to learn more about their work and see the children in training in the workshops, the agricultural farm or practicing dance and music. Afterwards we will go to the Western Baray, an ancient reservoir more than 2 km across and 9 km long with an average depth of 7 m. This huge construction was realized by King Yasovarman 1st (889-910), the entire expanse of water is contained within a levee of earth which forms a dike, shaded by large trees and with the forest of Angkor as its backdrop. At its present level, the water only covering two thirds depths of 4 and 5 metres - the remainder is currently rice fields. On the island in the middle of the Baray stand the ruins of the western Mebon temple. This temple contained formerly a gigantic bronze statue of Vishnu which is today exhibited in the National Museum in Phnom Penh. This artificial lake is now a recreational place for the locals who flock here on the weekend. We will have lunch in this lovely place and spend a part of the afternoon by swimming. On the way back, we will stop at the small village of Banteay Chreu to visit the popular Buddhist temple Svay Romeat from where we can have a whole view of the surrounding countryside. Then, we will continue our ride along a quiet road to Siem Reap. We will arrive at your hotel at the end of the afternoon.

I have just finished the Epic Asia and therefore the 10 day Cambodia tour with intro and would highly recommend. The tour was a mix of cities and beaches and i love both! Koh Rong was definitely my fave destination because of the stunning beaches and the snorkel boat trip. Also, such a yummy bbq on the second evening. My tour leader was Jabs and he was the most fun and always made sure the tour was running smoothly. Thank you for the best trip Jabs!!!

Done my first ever Intro tour and went for the Epic Asia to see Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia! Honestly they were all incredible for different reasons 🤯! I had Ellie, Morgan and Sexy Mama Tola for the tours and their individual personalities made each trip. Ellie in Thailand, Morgan in Vietnam and Tola in Cambodia are honestly the best! For our big group, they all managed to keep us all on time, keep the peace, keep the spirits high, keep us all safe and set the standards extremely high! The itineraries were a great mix of activities and down time to relax and I made friends for life 🤩 Would 100% go back and do it all again 🥰

I just finished the Thailand part of my Epic Asia tour and I had such an amazing experience. Katie Weatherill, our group leader, made the experience faultless. From the get go she was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the trip and was so personable to approach with any questions or issues. It felt like having a good friend as our leader. The trip was so well organised down to a T and we managed to have the perfect balance of fitting so much into the 18 days and also having rest mornings/afternoons to catch up on some chill time. Katie kept us all in line without being bossy and keeping us laughing with her brilliant sense of humour and bubbly personality. I can’t thank her enough for the energy and special touches she put into our trip. 10/10 would recommend!

I did the Cambodia 10 day trip on the 23rd February 2025 as a continuation of my Epic Asia trip. I didn’t know much about Cambodia going into it but I absolutely fell in love with the country because it was such an amazing experience and wonderful culture. The tour includes a very important day learning about the history of Cambodia which makes you appreciate your time there even more. A couple of my highlights: the stay in Kampot (kayaking, tour of the pepper plantation & pool games) and the few days in Koh Rong Sanloem with some of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen. Cambodia is beautiful in itself but our group leader, Michelle Wolf made the trip what it was, she was organised, calm, always considerate & a wonderful friend to everyone. The trip wouldn’t have been the same without her, we were very lucky to be her 22nd group! I had my birthday in Siem Reap and she made it so special by letting me choose the restaurant for dinner, buying me a birthday cake and organising everyone to write a birthday message in a notebook - which is a present I’ll keep forever. This is definitely a trip that I’ll remember for a lifetime. I would recommend to everyone - especially the full Epic Asia!

Review This was our first, small group holiday ever and so pleased we chose Explore - we enjoyed it enormously. The organisation around the whole trip was very professional from the team in England to the very end. The itinerary was well thought out and provided very interesting insights into the daily lives of the Vietnamese and Cambodian people alongside the extensive history of the two countries we visited. Our tours guides were very knowledgeable and amusing - always happy to answer questions and providing many light hearted moments. Our team leader guide Binh, was wonderful and so professional. Always doing everything he could to make our holiday run smoothly. We chose a cycling holiday and this enabled us to visit small villages off the beaten track. There was always a mechanical support team with us who were also lovely. Would definitely recommend Explore to anyone - and we are already looking at other trips.
