day 1 - Arrival and walking tour
Your tour begins in Flores, a small island town that serves as the perfect base for daytrips. Start with a walking tour around Flores to explore its charming streets, colorful buildings, and lakeside views.
Arrangements can be made for pickup from from Belize instead of Mundo Maya International Airport (FRS) near Flores.
day 2 - Guatemala: Ixpanpajul Park, Yaxhá & El Mirador
Today’s adventure takes you to Ixpanpajul Natural Park and the ancient Maya site of Yaxhá. At Ixpanpajul, walk along the sky-way hanging bridges and enjoy a thrilling zip-line experience. Around noon, visit Yaxhá for a guided tour of this remarkable archaeological site.
For those who upgrade, take a helicopter daytrip to the remote El Mirador site, home to striking Pre-Classic Maya architecture. Explore the area on foot, with a hike included to discover its hidden treasures. Lunch is included on today’s tour.
day 3 - Tikal day trip and transfer to Antigua
Before flying from Flores through Guatemala City, enjoy a daytrip to Tikal. This is one of the largest archaeological sites and urban centers of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization, and one of Guatemala’s most famous attractions. Explore the towering temples, plazas, and ancient structures that make Tikal so remarkable. Lunch is included on today’s tour before continuing to Antigua, your base for the remainder of the trip.
day 4 - Guatemala: Pacaya Volcano day trip
Today’s adventure takes you to Pacaya, an active complex volcano that first erupted around 23,000 years ago. Since the Spanish conquest, Pacaya has erupted at least 23 times and reaches an elevation of 2,552 meters (8,373 feet). After over 70 years of dormancy, it began erupting vigorously in 1961 and has continued frequent activity ever since, offering an impressive and dramatic natural landscape to explore.
day 5 - Lake Atitlán Villages and La Nariz del Indio
Today’s daytrip takes you to Lake Atitlán, with Panajachel as your gateway. Begin with a guided tour of the surrounding lakeside villages, each influenced by Maya culture yet uniquely distinct.
Your first stop is San Marcos, where you can stroll along the main street filled with shops and a bohemian vibe. Next, take a boat to San Juan, then travel by road to the base of La Nariz del Indio (The Mayan Face). Enjoy a 1-hour guided hike to the viewpoint and some time to relax while taking in the stunning views. Return to the base around 12:30 pm and head back to San Juan’s dock for lunch.
day 6 - Chichicastenango market day trip
Today’s excursion takes you to Chichicastenango, a town famous for its vibrant Thursday and Sunday market. Explore stalls offering traditional attire, masks, handicrafts, food, flowers, pottery, wooden boxes, condiments, medicinal plants, candles, pom and copal (traditional incense), lime stones for tortillas, and even live pigs and chickens.
Note: This day may be swapped with another Antigua daytrip to ensure your visit falls on a Thursday or Sunday when the market is in full swing.
day 7 - Antigua highlights by private car
Nestled among three massive volcanoes and mountains, Antigua is renowned for its well-preserved Spanish Baroque architecture and numerous colonial-era landmarks. Recognized as Guatemala’s most beautiful town, Antigua was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979.
Today you enjoy a full-day private tour of the town, traveling in a private car to explore its charming streets, historic buildings, and cultural highlights at your own pace.
day 8 - End of tour
Antigua is the final stop on your Guatemala tour. A shuttle will be arranged to take you to Guatemala City’s international airport, about an hour away.
You can choose to extend your stay and experience other highlights including a hike up the Acatenango Volcano or a visit to Semuc Champey. Arrangements can be made for such additions.
