Itinerary
Experience the tropical beauty and rich culture of the Dominican Republic on this unforgettable journey. Begin at Punta Cana Resort, where white sands and turquoise waters set the perfect tone. Cruise to the pristine Catalina Island and explore Altos de Chavón Village, a replica of a 16th-century Mediterranean town.
Discover the history and vibrant rhythm of Santo Domingo, then enjoy panoramic views from Mount Redonda. Refresh at the waterfalls of Saltos de Yanigua National Park and explore the lush mangroves and caves of Los Haitises National Park. Conclude your adventure with a relaxing escape to Saona Island—or extend your trip to the stunning Samaná Peninsula for an optional exploration.
day 1 - Arriving into the Dominican Republic’s showcase resort
Our Dominican Republic adventure begins in Punta Cana, where we will be based for the duration of the tour. From here, daily excursions offer a mix of culture and excitement.
Upon arrival, we pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel. Today, explore Bavaro Beach, the most popular white-sand beach in the Punta Cana area, known for its turquoise waters and vibrant atmosphere.
day 2 - Catalina Island and Altos de Chavón
This morning we head to a dock near La Romana and board a catamaran to Catalina Island. Lunch is included, along with an open bar once on the island. Catalina Island features diverse ecosystems, including sand dunes, mangroves, and coral reefs. The island is formed from coral stone and contains three overlapping plateaus. Its surrounding seas are rich in wildlife, making it a prime destination for snorkeling.
After returning to the dock near La Romana, we visit Altos de Chavón, a recreated Mediterranean-style village atop the Chavón River. A guided tour introduces us to its cultural center, archaeological museum, and amphitheater.
day 3 - Santo Domingo: Colonial charm and vibrant culture
Today visit Santo Domingo, the oldest permanent European settlement in the New World. A guided tour takes us through the colonial zone, an architectural gem that feels worlds apart from the rest of the city. Stroll through Spanish-era squares, monuments, and parks while soaking in the local culture; men playing dominoes, delicious food, lively music like bachata and merengue, and an exciting nightlife scene.
The Old Town, or Zona Colonial, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to key landmarks such as the Alcázar de Colón, Fortaleza Ozama Castle, and Primada de América Cathedral. While most of our time is spent here, the surrounding areas of Gazcue and the Malecón are also worth exploring. Santo Domingo is one of the Caribbean’s most vibrant yet underrated destinations.
day 4 - Mount Redonda, waterfalls and Los Haitises
Today begins with a visit to Montaña Redonda (Mount Redonda), where we take scenic photos and enjoy the swings overlooking the lush landscape. Next, we head to Salto de Yanigua National Park, where swimming at the waterfall is possible and local chocolates and coffee are offered. Lunch is included on today’s tour.
Afterward, travel to Caño Hondo dock and take a boat tour inside Los Haitises National Park, riding through mangroves and exploring caves with ancient petroglyphs. Los Haitises is a protected virgin forest with limited road access and a variety of water-eroded caverns, making it a popular ecotourism destination.
day 5 - Saona Island: Beaches, lunch and open bar
This morning we depart by catamaran or speedboat to Saona Island. Lunch and access to an open bar are included on the island. Saona is a favorite destination for tourists from across the Dominican Republic, arriving daily by catamaran and motorboat.
Known for its pristine beaches and tropical scenery, Saona Island has often been featured by filmmakers and advertisers seeking the perfect “deserted island” backdrop.
day 6 - End of tour
Transportation will be arranged to take you to the airport in Punta Cana.
If you have extra time, private tours can be arranged to visit Playa Bahía de Las Águilas in the southwest, or explore the Samaná Peninsula in the north, including Playa Rincón, Playa Frontón, Playa Galeras, and El Limón Waterfall. These destinations are not included in the standard itinerary due to their remote locations, but private arrangements can be made upon request.
