ACCOMMODATED: Venture into the Top End on a 2-day trip from Darwin, taking in Kakadu’s wetlands, Aboriginal rock art at Nourlangie, and a Yellow Water sunset cruise. A Bush Tucker Walk and visits to cultural centres offer a glimpse into First Nations traditions, while cosy stays and stops, such as the Humpty Doo Hotel, add local flavour. Darwin - Humpty doo - Kakadu National Park - Jabiru - Kakadu. Today, you will be picked up from Travelodge Resort in Darwin at 8 AM, and then we will set off on a relaxed journey south to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park. After a scenic drive, we’ll stop at the Humpty Doo Roadhouse for coffee and breakfast before visiting Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve, where you can spot native birdlife and other wildlife unique to the Top End.
We’ll pause at the Corroboree Tavern, then continue to the Kakadu entrance sign for a group photo before heading to the Mamukala Wetlands for a gentle walk and picnic lunch. From here, you have free time between 12 PM and 2:30 PM – perfect for joining the optional Kakadu Air Scenic Flight, a breathtaking 30-minute aerial view over Kakadu’s vast landscapes and winding waterways (Bookable in advance or onsite).
In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Bowali Visitor Centre to learn about the park’s rich heritage, then stop briefly in Jabiru before arriving at Cooinda Lodge. You’ll have time to relax before we embark on the Yellow Water Sunset Cruise – a 2-hour journey through vibrant wetlands alive with wildlife as the sun sets. Our day ends with a 2-course dinner at Mimi’s Restaurant, followed by preparations for tomorrow’s adventures.

Kakadu - Kakadu National Park - Humpty doo - Darwin. This morning, we’ll enjoy breakfast at our accommodation before setting out on a Bush Tucker walk, either on the grounds at Cooinda or along a scenic trail within Kakadu National Park. Guided by local knowledge, we’ll learn how Aboriginal people have traditionally used native plants and wildlife for food, medicine and tools.
Our cultural journey continues at the Warradjan Cultural Centre, where engaging exhibits share the stories of Kakadu’s traditional owners and their enduring connection to the land. There’s also a gallery and gift shop to explore.
Next, we visit Nourlangie Rock (Burrunguy), home to remarkable Aboriginal rock art sites preserved for thousands of years. We then head to Angbangbang Billabong for a relaxed picnic lunch in the heart of Kakadu’s wetlands, followed by a short walk to Nawurlandja Lookout for sweeping views across the park.
From 3 PM to 6 PM, you have free time – an ideal window for the optional 60-minute Kakadu Air Scenic Flight. This unforgettable experience offers panoramic views over Kakadu’s floodplains, winding rivers, dramatic escarpments, and, in the right season, thundering waterfalls (Bookable in advance or onsite).
In the late afternoon, we begin our return journey to Darwin, pausing at Bark Hut for a comfort break before visiting HB Quarry to see unique rock carvings that offer further insight into the region’s history. Our final stop is the Humpty Doo Hotel, a classic outback pub, where we can unwind before completing our return to Darwin.
