The Rila and Pirin mountain ranges of Bulgaria are home to vast alpine meadows, glacial lakes, rare vegetation and a rich variety of fauna. In the Rila Mountains, the highest peak, Musala (2925m) is a focal point of this engaging walk. Superb mountain vistas, hidden villages brimming with traditional culture and a visit to Rila Monastery, Bulgaria's most famous monastery, are some of the many highlights of the program. Based in 3 star hotels in Govedartsi and Bansko and a mountain hut in the Pirin Range, this trip will appeal to keen walkers seeking an alternative mountain experience in a country that teems with history and beautiful natural landscapes.
Awesome trip. Stoyan, the guide was incredible! A great country to travel in and the hiking was very enjoyable.
Overall this hiking trip was enjoyable. The hotels could have been better.
I thoroughly enjoyed this trip. The hiking was great, some a little steep but if you have reasonable fitness and can rock hop a bit and are confident you will be fine. Our guide Stoyan was great, informative and patient. The accommodation was good. Am happy with this trip and would recommend.
Awesome few days of hiking. The hiking was challenging but very rewarding with varied terrain scenery. The overnight stay in the mountain hut was a highlight. Our guide Andrey was highly knowledgeable, organised and a great hiking companion.
The walks were challenging and the operation well coordinated. We had memorable moments in some high places. Being exposed to the history of the country was one of the main highlights. The amount of smoking in Bulgaria was disturbing. The average mortality reflects this sad state of affairs.
