Today we will embark on a fascinating journey through the foot prints of the past in the Heart of the Desert driest place in the world to learn about the beginnings of the valuable Atacama culture.
Our experience of Archaeological Tour in San Pedro de Atacama will take us on an exciting tour of the ancient civilizations that one once flourished in this enigmatic region.
We will share our experience of today visiting the "Pukará de Quitor", this construction pre-Inca of 2.5 hectares, is located at an altitude of 2440 meters high and 3 kilometers from San Pedro de Atacama, is on the slopes of a small hill, providing a strategic position to the sector. The Father Gustavo Le Paige was the one who in the year 1958 identified the first remains of the Village of Tulor, located 6 kilometers to the south of San Pedro de Atacama. This unique tour is generally guided by the local residents who will take us to relive the beginnings and the first inhabitants of San Pedro de Atacama. Tulor it is a village built directly on the ground clay in the drainage area of the San Pedro River, which over time It was buried by the advance of the desert.
