I wanted more of Austria, both the travel manager and bus driver were awesome! I think a little less time in Venice as it got a bit boring after 6 hours.

We can't say enough about how wonderful it was! Not only did we get to experience 10 different countries and the sites and culinary experiences they offered, but we met some really fun travel mates along the way. Some hotels were better than others, but they were all super clean, provided a good breakfast, a bar for a nightcap, and most importantly, a comfortable bed. Our driver Chris was amazing, and our tour leader Steve was the absolute best - knowledgeable, organized, entertaining, and ultra-personable. The bus rides went quickly with frequent comfort stops, times for naps and time for reading/puzzles, and a couple trivia contests. We are already looking into our next Expat tour!!

Honestly I really enjoyed everything. But if I had to pinpoint a favourite I think it would be how often we saw the northern lights. Due to the extreme weather conditions - a blizzard in October, we saw them almost every night which I think makes us really lucky, as I was expecting it to be much harder to see them. Additionally, I was pleasantly surprised by the adaptability of our day plans by our TM and Driver when we needed to be kept safe, and had delays to departures on some days due to snow, icy roads, and strong winds - we still managed to see everything we would have in the end and made some surprise pit stops too! I was super stoked with the glacier hike, but it would be even more incredible if it was longer. The only way I think this trip could be improved would be to have the start time earlier so the first day is actually a full day, and start the travel straight away! Why do we need to stay in Reykjavík on the first and last night? It could easily be changed to make the trip feel like you see even a tiny bit more.

The trip manager worked hard to make sure everyone got to do all the activities they wanted and our coach driver ensured we made it safely to every location. Initially before booking the trip I thought it was extremely overpriced. However(our tour guide) was fantastic. He made the trip worth every penny and was extremely organised and knowledgeable. The locations were great, and the activities were really cool. was a fantastic character, and became a friend by ensuring we all had fun. He looked after and catered for everyone’s needs and requirements, promoting safety above all else, and more than once went the extra mile to ensure we all had a great time (joining myself at CrossFit and his traditional dance moves were personal highlights). I hope he gets the recognition he deserves, as I would love to book a similar trip with Contiki in future because of this great experience. I would also recommend that you include huacachina in future - I went there on my own and it was one of the coolest experiences - maybe this could be added as an extra at the beginning of the trip.
