The Christmas & New Year's Eastern Highlights Tour with Expat Explore was an unforgettable experience, offering a perfect blend of festive charm, cultural discovery, and breathtaking scenery. At times, it felt like stepping into a fairy tale or being inside a snow globe, with picturesque landscapes, twinkling lights, and charming old towns covered in snow.
Our guide, Mica, was truly exceptional—organized, knowledgeable, and incredibly empathetic. She made sure everyone felt comfortable while ensuring a smooth and well-paced journey. Our driver, Alex, was fantastic as well, navigating long distances with skill and safety, making the journey stress-free.
One of the highlights of the tour was experiencing the Christmas markets across different countries. Each market had its own unique charm, from the festive decorations to the delicious seasonal treats, making the holiday spirit even more magical.

Ollie our trip manager and Tamas our drive provide a lot of historical information, curiosities and we were able to drive to some other places for sightseeing. Highly recommend it.
The hotels were fantastic — central, comfortable, and beautifully presented. It made such a difference to be close to everything while still feeling relaxed and at ease. The coach was also very comfortable and reliable, and guided us through heavy traffic safely and on time.
We really enjoyed the trip! The guides treated us very well and explained everything to us in detail; The drivers were very clean and very punctual.

This was such a trip of a lifetime! I am so glad I booked it and went. The weather couldn't have been any more in our favor too! Clari was such an amazing trip manager - she was so passionate about Peru and making sure we were seeing all the highlights we signed up for. The Inca trail was my favorite part of this trip, so definitely make sure you book that! You get to see so much more of the surrounding area that way of Machu Picchu. 10/10 would re-live this trip again in all of its glory!
Local tour specialists organised a fantastic private tour for our group in August/September 2019. We chose the Golden Triangle with Mumbai itinerary and were able to get the best value.
Having liaised with them via email in the months and weeks ahead of the tour to ensure all our queries were answered, we were greeted at Delhi airport by a representative and our driver without issue. From there we were transferred to our first hotel. We opted for 4 star hotels and overall were happy with the accommodation, although once there we would have liked to be a little more central to restaurants/shops etc outside of the hotel for evenings and free time. Our itinerary overall was pretty busy so not too much bother.
We had different guides in each city who were all welcoming and knowledgeable. The particular highlight was our driver for the golden triangle portion, Mangeram, who went out of his way to keep us happy and share his knowledge and expertise with us. His English was great which also enhanced our experienced since we spent a large amount of time in his company traveling. We felt safe with him and that he was trustworthy - especially important as an all female group.
It would have been good to spend a few more days in Mumbai and to stay somewhere central there.
Overall, I would recommend local guides and drivers, who made us feel welcome at each stage.
