The English-speaking travel guides in each city we visited had warm, friendly personalities and shared great insights with us about life in China. They guided us on memorable visits to the water towns surrounding Shanghai, and to Xian, Guilin, and the beautiful countryside of Yangshuo. The company took care of all our travel arrangements including wonderful and well-situated hotels, private mini-van with driver, and train/airport transfers. These arrangements were very reassuring as this was our family's first trip to China. We, a family of three from New Zealand, enjoyed a trip to China in October this year. We have been preparing for this trip for 2 years. Before finding this tour operator, we also inquired with some local travel companies in New Zealand and China. After comparing, we found that the itineraries offered by New Zealand companies were relatively limited, and they required a minimum of 16 people to form a group. Therefore, we ultimately chose the 13-day group tour package with this operator. In our group, there are a total of three families, consisting of 6 people. The other members are from Germany and the United States. It was an amazing trip. Totally worth it.

This five-day private, guided tour is for those who want to have an overview of some of China's most famous highlights. Starting from Shanghai, China's financial capital, this tour will take you to Xian and Beijing, where it will come to an end.
Your first destination is Xian, where you will see the famous Terracotta Army that has been standing for more than 2,000 years, as well visit the Xian City Wall, one of the oldest and best preserved Chinese city walls. Then take the bullet train to Beijing. Explore the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall and see other important historical monuments of the city such as Forbidden City and the Summer Palace.
This tour comes to an end in the Chinese capital city. Please note that accommodation is not included in the tour price, which means that travelers can either book accommodation on their own or book their stay in four-star hotels during the tour with us. This was an amazing trip made possible by extraordinary guides and drivers. We were met by the lovely Asmita who went to extra mile to prepare us for our trip, and to be sure we had all we needed. She could not be more charming and helpful. On day one, we were driven to the border, very expertly by Raju accompanied by Kersang. We needed an expert as the roads were very windy and not in good condition but it was exciting and we could take in the wonderful scenery and the interesting villages that we passed.
After we crossed, the border which took some time we were met by Tarkye our guide and Cedun our driver. Tarkye was a very mature calm guide, solicitous knowledgeable and very caring. Cedun our driver was also very considerate and helpful which we as a group needed as many of us had not fully anticipated the effects of the high altitude.
However, we were shepherded in an extraordinary manner through magnificent mountainous terrain, and lake filled scenery seeing yaks and other animals on the way. The monasteries were beautiful and Tarkye could answer any questions we had.
This unique and extraordinary trip delivered exactly what it promised. There was a great deal of driving which could be tiring but this was specified up front.
Overall, this was an amazing trip, but it was more physically demanding than anticipated because of the altitude and also being in a relatively small enclosed vehicle carrying 12 people with no space in between each person if one person gets sick it spreads through the group has happened for us. Nevertheless this tour is a once in a lifetime experience in a country as yet relatively undiscovered by western tourists.
