Note: Upon your arrival at Pakse International Airport, it is possible to obtain your visa on arrival (VOA). Simply bring 1 passport picture along with between USD 30 and 45 / person in cash, visa fees varying from one nationality to another. Make sure your passport is valid at least 6 months beyond your return departure date. Visa on Arrival forms are available before immigration counters.
Note: it is also possible to start this tour at Ubon Ratchathani airport, in Thailand, on the other side of the Lao/Thai border. You will then be driven overland to Laos through Chong Mek border crossing. Consult OneclicktoAsia’s local agent to know more.
Meet and greet by your Lao English-speaking guide in the arrival hall.
At your discretion - take the opportunity to savor a first coffee and croissant at Café Sinouk in Pakse. Sinouk Coffee is a great place to start your exploration of southern Laos.
We then leave for the Boloven Plateau, famous for its waterfalls, fertile land offering the best teas and coffees in the country or the Indochinese peninsula. You will not miss a few tastings, on the advice of your guide.
We will mark a few stops on the way to Thatheng to explore ethnic villages (Lao Loum, Ta Oy and Laven), and a mulberry farm before reaching Tad Lo waterfall.
Transfer to the hotel for check-in. Free time at leisure.

Day 2: Boloven Plateau - Jeep Tour in Paksong (B/L)
Breakfast at the Resort.
Departure by minivan to the meeting point in Paksong.
Arrive in Paksong. Switch vehicles from minivan to jeep. Then, take the road to a coffee farm. From Paksong to Khamsone’s Coffee Farm (13 km / 30 min on a bumpy road that is muddy in the rainy season)
Upon arrival at Khamsone’s Coffee farm, meet and greet Mr. Khamsone, the owner. It will take 1 hour to give explanations about the coffee plantation. You will also get more details about coffee from planting to roasting step, finishing by a coffee tasting of the varied savors of Robusta, Arabica and Typica coffees.
In the late morning, trekking up to a cave, walking along coffee plantations (45 minutes)
We then, take a Jeep from the cave to a Laven village with one stopover at Tad Say or Tad Khao waterfall, depending on the season and timing.
Make a stop for lunch at Ban Xedkhod Laven village. Lunch is served in a traditional local house. Then, visit of the village.
Then, continue by Jeep from this Laven village to a vegetables garden for approximately 1h30 on a bumpy road that can be muddy during the rainy season. We will then trek from the vegetables fields to Tad Mealouk waterfall for 45 minutes. The Jeep drops you off at the intersection and waits for you at the first waterfall (Tad Mealouk).
Drive from Tad Mealouk waterfall to Tad Moun waterfall by Jeep. Here, you can also swim and take your time to relax. Fruits and beverages will be provided.
5pm: Transfer to Tad Fane waterfall and switch vehicles in Paksong for transfer back to Sinouk Coffee Resort by minivan.

Day 3: Boloven Plateau - Champassak - Vat Phou – Xe Pian / Ban Kiet Ngong (B/L)
After breakfast, we will take the direction of the former colonial town of Champassak, where we have lunch at Inthira restaurant.
Along the way, we will make a stop at Tad Fane waterfall for another opportunity to further explore the world of Lao coffee.
It will then be time to explore southern of Laos’ gem: the ancient temple of Vat Phou, the second UNESCO World Heritage site of the Lao PDR. Vat Phou is one of the best preserved examples of major Khmer architecture, some 200 years older than Angkor Wat in neighbor Cambodia. The core monument of this site consists of a main temple on the upper terrace, six shrines on the middle terrace and two palaces and Nandin Hall on the lower terrace. There are also other associated ruins surrounding the temple complex.
Then, we will go to the Natural Park of Xe Pian, where you will spend the night near the village of Ban Kiet Ngong at an ecolodge ideally located in a preserved natural environment, surrounded by wild animals.

Day 4: Xe Pian – “4,000 Islands” – Done Khone (B/L)
After breakfast, you will be offered a tour of about 90 minutes on an elephant through the lush surroundings of Ban Kiet Ngong (2 people per animal) to the summit of Mount Phou Asa that offers a wonderful view about the region and the remains of an ancient civilization still mysterious.
Stop en route for lunch at a local restaurant.
We cross the Mekong by ferry to explore the “4,000 Islands” area (Si Pan Don, in Lao). Here, the Mekong River is at its widest. During the rainy season it is up to 12 km across. When the waters recede, many small islands emerge. It is from this phenomenon that the region takes its name. From far distance you can hear the unmistakable roar of the Khone Phapheng and transfer to Ban Nakasang to cross the river to Don Det & Don Khone. Bicycling tour around the Islands, also see the old locomotive, railway and colonial bridge built by the French to avoid navigating on the rapids and waterfalls that abound on this section of the Mekong and visit Li Phi falls.
If time permits, you can pay the extra cost on spot and visit Irrawaddy freshwater dolphins. Ban Hang Khon is one of the rare places on earth to spot these endangered mammals.

Day 5: Done Khone - Khone Pha Pheng - Champassak (B/L)
Breakfast and cross to the mainland before driving to Khone Pha Pheng, further south, at the border with Cambodia. They are part of the largest waterfalls in this region of Asia.
We shall then turn towards Champassak, before crossing the Mekong River to reach your holiday destination in the former capital of the eponymous kingdom.
En route lunch at a local restaurant.
Arrive at your resort, a true holiday resort with its swimming pool overlooking the Mekong.
Installation in your room, and end of your day. Take the opportunity to stroll through the surrounding countryside by bicycles (provided free at the reception of the hotel).

Day 6: Champassak (B)
Breakfast at the hotel.
Today is free at leisure and you might like to take one of the hotel's bicycles out to explore by yourself.

Day 7: Champassak - Departure (B)
In this morning, breakfast at the hotel and free at leisure to enjoy hotel’s facilities.
After that, transfer to Pakse Airport.

Full payments for this trip needs to be received upon confirmation of the tour. The tour can be cancelled without charge 1 week prior to departure. The tour can be amended to another day free of charge up to 48 hours prior to departure.
