Food Lover's Camino was a great trip for enjoying both highlights of The French Camino and a wide variety of food experiences. The first two days of walking were harder than the rest of the trip. We were lucky to have glorious weather and be accompanied by the ever cheerful Jaclyn and the ever helpful Jerome. As a solo traveller it was well suited to my needs. I would strongly urge anyone joining in the future to spend the day before the trip starts in Le Puy as it is market day.
The walk was very satisfying. It was tougher than we expected however. Especially the Le Monastier to Le Bouchet. The app worked well for the most part. I would say all accommodation was good with the exception of one where the hotel room was very small and the staff not that helpful.
A great foodies walk with interesting side excursions. We loved it for all the above and also because we are seniors and the walks were suitable for us oldies with options for the minibus on longer stretches. The guide and driver were great and we would highly recommend the trip to all.
I really enjoyed the Le Puy camino trip. It was well organised with a very competent guide, Jaclyn, and an experienced French driver, Jerome, who also acted as interpreter, when necessary. I liked the options along the walk to hop on the bus when the need arose. The hotels were comfortable and all the meals were good. Though I would have preferred not to have a Michelin starred restaurant included.
Hikes should start first thing in the morning...City tours/cultural activities should take place after hikes...or eliminate...Dinner meal times should be earlier...Dinner menu selection should be no more than 48 hours of eating it...Eliminate 2 hour van transfer day 10 prior to 15.5 km hike....Overall-include more hiking hours....Offer an add-on from St. Jean de Pied de Port to Roncesvalles.....
Wonderful way to enjoy Chemin de Saint Jacques in a limited time. 1st class accommodation with excellent culinary experiences ranging from local fare to fine dining. The walking trails allowed a good experience of The Camino. The walking was not difficult, in keeping with the advertised 2/5 level. Our guide Jaclyn and driver Jerome were fantastic. I highly recommend the walk!
