Laos and Thailand Tours and Trips

Great trip . The overnight train and the homestay wasn't something I'd normally do ,but it was an experience and added to the variety of the trip. Our guide was very helpful and his knowledge and passion for his country was first class. Highly recommend the trip but it is as described 'full on' so don't expect much time to relax .

Explore excelled again. Our guide Mhor was fantastic. His guidance and knowledge made every day special. The itinerary from Bangkok to AoNang showed the full spectrum of Thailand at its best. The tour from the beginning to the end was fabulous and action packed. Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos are each different in exciting ways. The waterfall was absolutely beautiful and the Vespa ride is not to be missed. Our tour manager Andy was the best. I loved the visits to the farms and homes to make noodles and lunch with them, to see how palm sugar is farmed and made and a dinner with a local family to be blessed. The tuk tuk rides were enjoyable and the markets! Bring money because you will purchase. Very affordable.

I would certainly recommend this trip. There were many highlights and we ate some excellent food during the holiday. I particularly enjoyed the Thai massage in Chiang Mai and later that day the cooking experience with the Raunkaew Family. The visit to The Elephant Nature Park was special and we were lucky enough to be able to participate in the annual Lantern Festival during the trip. The Buddhist temples visited were all so fascinating and set in such varied locations, not always easy to access with lots and lots of steps, but well worth the effort. Our time unwinding by the river Kwai on a truly special floating hotel was awesome and I really enjoyed the visit to Bangkok’s Grand Palace. Woody, our tour leader was tremendous. He had a really engaging personality and he couldn’t do enough to ensure everything went as smoothly as possible. He did have to deal with a few problems caused by torrential rain and flooding, which meant diversions and one or two programme changes, but nothing that spoiled the trip for us.

There were a rapid fire of exceptional experiences. If I had to pick one, the overnight cruise on Halong Bay would be near the top. Others include: Hanoi Hilton, Saigon at Night, Hero Rats, Bangkok cruise, Angkor What, Chi Chu tunnels, and the overall food experiences. Our Tour Manager put more effort into making a wonderful time than I have ever seen in 12 Collette tours.

Everything was so easy from booking online to the documents and then to starting the trip on day one. Our trip manager Jess was so amazing! Taking us to all the places, tours and taking us to local food places that were all so amazing! I loved that I didn’t have to organise anything myself and I just had to show up. Highly recommend as a solo traveler as you can book everything through contiki and just focus on having fun. I had the most beautiful people in my group and we all did the free-time add on tours together and had a blast! If you’re thinking about it just do it!
