We will pick you up at the airport when you arrive at Jorge Chavez international airport in Lima. Airport transfer to Hotel Casa Andina Miraflores.
We catch a domestic flight to the small jungle town of Puerto Maldonado in the south-east of Peru. We will travel by river boat to the first lodge where we will spend the night. (Full board at the lodge)
Bring binoculars for wildlife and bird spotting!
In the morning we will visit a garden of medicinal plants and our knowledgeable guide will explain about the traditional uses and the properties of the plants. We continue upstream leaving the civilization behind. In the afternoon we reach the lodge Tambopata Research Center.
Before dusk we head out to the close-by clay lick where a large number of macaws gather to eat clay that is rich in minerals. To see these impressive birds in the wild is truly a memory for life. Hike the trails and learn about the various ecosystems and with some luck spot wildlife.
If you wish to visit the macaw clay lick you'll get one more chance this morning. In the afternoon we will visit a palm swamp where the fruit of the aguaje palms support many species of birds and animals and create a ecosystem of their own. This area used to be a bend of the river but is now slowly transformed in to a swamp. The rainforest is in contant change.
Early in the morning we will head downstream back to the city and by airplane going to Cusco in the Andes. We continue to the small town of Ollantaytambo where we will spend three nights exploring the beautiful surroundings. Altitude 2800 meters of the sea level (9186 ft) Overnight at Apu Lodge. The only way to reach Machu Picchu is by foot or by rail. We will catch the trail to the town of Aguas Calientes at the foot of Machu Picchu and by midday our specialized guide will take you exploring this remarkable place. We strive towards sustainability and to visit Machu Picchu off peak visitors hours is a part of our work. Train back to Ollantaytambo at night. (Breakfast)
Together with our specilized guide today is dedicated to exploring a few of the many sites in the beautiful Sacred Valley. Yoga in a quiet spot and visit a market of local handicraft. (Breakfast)
We will now leave Cusco and the mountains and change scenery completely. Late afternoon we land in the city of Piura and by car onwards towards to beach. Now it's time to relax in the hammock reading a book. We will do yoga on the beach and also classes of salsa. Swim with turtles and maybe try surfing. Our home is the lovely locally owned Marcilia Beach Bungalows. (Breakfasts included)
Yoga class in the morning on the beach. In the afternoon we will visit a small village and if we're lucky we might be able to swim with turtles. We'll get our first salsa class and see how we do!
There are many things to do and try, maybe today you'd like to try surfing in the nearby town Mancora and for lunch try one of the many fresh and delicious ways of preparing a traditional ceviche.
Maybe you'd like to come with us at the crack of dawn and go bird-watching in the near-by dry forest. If not, sleeping in is ok too. Yoga and salsa classes and lots of freetime.
Now we need to start heading back to the airport to catch our domestic flight back to Lima. Airport transfer and overnight at Casa Andina Miraflores.
Transfer back to the airport in time for your flight. If you depart in the afternoon you'll have time to go on a guided city tour in Lima.
