Day 1: Hanoi (dinner included)
Arrive at any time. Options to visit Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and stilt house, Hoa Lo Prison, Tran Quoc Pagoda and the Temple of Literature depending on your arrival time. Enjoy the afternoon Water Puppets performance. Join our evening Foodie Tour to dig deeper into daily Hanoian life and stay overnight in a Hotel.
Day 2: Hanoi - Lao Cai - Sapa (breakfast, lunch, dinner included)
Join our morning Hanoi Walkie Talkie Tour we don't just take you around Ha Noi's hottest spots - we delve deeper into its historical past, revealing the hidden charms of Hanoi. Afternoon free on your own. Options to visit Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and stilt house, Hoa Lo Prison, Tran Quoc Pagoda and the Temple of Literature. Overnight by soft sleeper train to Lao Cai (Sapa).
Day 3-4: Sapa (breakfast, lunch, dinner included)
Are you ready for the "Real Sapa Experience"! Enjoy a very warm welcome from our local Hmong tour guide who will guide you through this stunning piece of Vietnam. From the lush terraced rice paddies to the rustic charm of the native dwellings, Sapa is a place you’re sure to fall in love with! Many diverse groups like the Dzay, Dzao, Tay, Xa Pho or Hmong populate this richly cultural northern territory. You’ll sample their unique delights as you pass through each village. Traditional meals with a local family. Late in the afternoon on day 4 we head back to the train station for the overnight journey back to Hanoi.
Day 5-6: Halong Bay - Hanoi (breakfast, lunch, dinner included)
In the early morning on day 5 we will pick you up from the train station, we will have breakfast at the famous beef noodle soup restaurant, before we catch our transport to Halong Bay. Explore this fascinating unique location and enjoy it's breathtaking and peaceful sceneries while the cruise slowly slides on the romantic waves of Halong Bay. Overnight on a junk boat with included seafood meals.Visit caves or an island lookout.Trip ends in Hanoi, optional extention for extra day in Halong Bay
Our driver picks you up from the airport and arrive in bustling Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. As everyone will be arriving at various times today, there are no planned activities. Some suggestions include: Taking a walk through Hanoi's Old Quarter – a maze of streets, each one traditionally devoted to a different product or industry. In the afternoon attend a performance at the famous Water Puppet Theatre. Visit Tran Quoc Pagoda, the Temple of Literature (Van Mieu) or Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and Museum. The Mausoleum houses the remains of Ho Chi Minh, the founding father of the unified Vietnam (the mausoleum and museum is closed in October-November).
You will have a scheduled meeting in the late afternoon around 5pm at your hotel. Please note that most nationalities require a visa to enter Vietnam, please double check this with us or your local Vietnamese Embassy we arrange free Visa on Arrival Letter and ask for more information. After your meeting, you will join our evening Foodies Walking Tour to further get know about Hanoi.
We overnight in the city center of Hanoi. Our hotel is located in an Old Quarter. All rooms are double or twin share with air conditioning and en suite bathroom. Free-Wifi and a computer are available in the lobby
You will have further opportunity to explore the city. In the morning after check out the room at 9 AM you will join our Hanoi Walkie Talkie Tour, we don't just take you around Ha Noi's hottest spots - we delve deeper into its historical past, revealing the hidden secrets and giving you the 'Insiders Guide' to life in our awe-inspiring city. It's a feast for every sense - the sights, sounds & smells - and not forgetting tasty treats we have in store for you along the way.
This afternoon you will have some free time to explore Hanoi on your own, Before boarding our overnight train to Lao Cai, en route to Sapa, our guide will pick you up at your Hotel stay and prepare yourself for an amazing Vietnamese dinner; a real feast in one of the hidden secret places in Hanoi, the train is leaving around 8 PM
The sleeper trains throughout Vietnam are quite comfortable and an experience on its own. Each cabin sleeps 4 people in 2 bunk beds. You will be able to lock the door from the inside. All bedding is provided. The train is air conditioned and has squat and Western style toilets with a wash basin at the end of each compartment. Bags can be stored in your cabin and accessed at any time. Food and drinks are not always available for purchase on board. This is not to everyone’s taste, so we recommend you bring your own.
Are you ready for the "Real Sapa Experience"! After arriving in Lao Cai in the early morning of day 3, we transfer to Sapa. You will arrive around 6 AM and our driver will pick you up from Lao Cai train station for a 1 hour drive to Sapa town. On arrival at Cat Cat View Hotel you'll be offered a refreshing shower and enjoy breakfast on the 7th floor garden terrace with stunning views of Sapa town and the Muong Huo valley.
Your local private Hmong tour guide will meet you after breakfast at around 9 a.m at the 7th floor of Cat Cat View Hotel. On your request she or he will offer you to have your luggage transported to the homestay or Private house in Ta Van. We'll start our trekking with a visit at the market to buy food and fruit for lunch, on the way, before we’ll start this fantastic trek to Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai and Ta Van, down in the Muong Hoa valley.
During the 15 km walk we’ll visit three villages of ethnic populations. Enjoy the spectacular views of the beautiful valley that leads towards Fansipan, the highest peak in Viet Nam and Indochina. The trek leads through the village of Black Hmong people, where you can learn how they weave and embroider their incredible clothes. Further along our descent we’ll enjoy the many colorful rice paddy fields until we reach Ta Van village, inhabited by the Dzay people.
We’ll have a filling lunch on the way and dinner in a traditional house in Ta Van. We overnight in the "Homestay" with a local family. (Optional: with | Deluxe | Luxury option to have Private house) The homestay accommodation for the evening is basic depends on booking, but bedding and mosquito nets are provided.
On day 4, after a traditional breakfast we leave Ta Van and continue our trek to visit the Red Dao people in Giang Ta Chai village. We pass some stunning scenery and a lovely waterfall along our route. As their name suggests, red is used extensively in the Red Dao women’s clothing and scarves. The terrain can be steep at times and slightly challenging. However, passengers with a moderate fitness level should be fine.
Our journey leads us along the small paths edging the rice fields, across the Muong Hoa River and lunch will be on the way at a fantastic spot. We’ll head back to Ta Van after our second amazing trekking in the early afternoon where we can enjoy our time before heading back to Lao Cai train station, shower and early dinner (or takeaway sandwich depends on train depart) will offered. Our driver will bring you to Lao Cai train station where your train is waiting for your depart to Hanoi.
The departure times of the trains are around 8:30 PM till 9:50 PM.
Please Note: During the rainy season (May-November) you should be prepared with rain gear as the availability of such items for sale can be limited. Temperatures in the Sapa region can drop to near freezing, so please pack appropriate clothing, such as a fleece, long trousers, and knit hat. (Dec – end March)
On Day 5, arriving back in Hanoi from Sapa, arrival times are early, between 5 and 6:30 AM depending on your train booking. Our guide is waiting and we will enjoy Vietnamese breakfast before we head to our meeting point at 2 Hang Buom Street before heading to Halong Bay.
Halong Bay Departure time 8 AM.
The 4 hour drive takes us to Bai Chay harbor, our entry point to Halong Bay.
Thousands of islands rise dramatically from the waters of Halong Bay and, to further their beauty, intricate cave systems naturally exist throughout these limestone karst formations. Cruising around on our traditional wooden junk with a 3 star service will take you to visit some of the islands and caves. You could enjoy a swim, kayaking (depending on the season) and have an evening drink on the deck beneath the stars. Our accommodation tonight is a truly special experience – sleeping on a boat surrounded by high limestone karsts. All cabins are double or twin share with air conditioning and en suite bathroom.
On day 6, after an early lunch on board the boat we head back to Hanoi.
