The tour begins with a briefing on how the bikes work at Praça do Comércio (Comercio Square), near the black horse statue. You’ll then head to Rossio station to catch the train for Sintra. During the train trip, you’ll have time to let your guide know if you’d like to visit some of the palaces along the way or if you just want to cycle.
When you arrive in Sintra, you can visit the National Palace if you like. Most of your cycling tour takes place within the natural park of Sintra-Cascais. You’ll have the option of visiting Quinta da Regaleira, built between 1904 and 1910, and a place renowned for its symbolism, magic, and mystery. Shortly after you’ll pass by Seteais, a former 18th-century palace that is now a 5-star hotel.
Continue your trip along roads flanked by majestic groves until you reach the entrance of Monserrate Park and Palace, one of the most beautiful creations in the Portuguese Romanticism style.
Arrive at Colares, a place that’s well known for its vineyards. Continue on to Penedo village, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views from the atrium of the church, before cycling on to Urgueira village.
Take a break for lunch in Azóia village, where you’ll find a great variety of restaurants. With renewed energy, continue your tour through an ancient forest and make your way up to the Peninha Sanctuary, located at 488 meters above sea level. Feel like you’ve traveled back in time at Rua das Flores Tavern, where a short, seasonal menu of traditional food includes cod, tuna and Iscas, a well know dish made from pork liver. Taste what´s on the menu of the day, before going to a beerhouse in a former monastery.

Visit Confeitaria Nacional, the oldest establishment of its kind in Lisbon. Famous for its traditional cakes and pastries, sample one of their legendary custard tartlets with a coffee. Alternatively, go to the old tavern of Amigos da Severa to hear some live fado music, and drink Lisbon´s best ginjinha (cherry liquor).

Cycle to the Almada e Cristo Rei statue, overlooking Lisbon city center, on a 3-hour electric bike tour of the southern neighborhoods. Cross the Tagus River, and let your bike take the strain as you climb to the outstetched arms of Christ the King.
Meet your group at Praça Martim Moniz for a safety briefing on how the bikes work. Then, bike to the large commercial square of Praça da Figueira, and learn about its mercantile past. Continue along Ruas dos Douradores, passing the site where the poet Fernando Pessoa got the inspiration for his book “Livro do Desassossego.” Admire the ironwork lift of the Santa Justa Elevator en route to Praça Comércio, Lisbon’s largest square.
Next, discover the recent developments of Ribeira das Naus, the former shipyard area where many of the Portuguese ships that set sail to discover new worlds were built. Upon arrival at Cais do Sodré, take the orange cacilheiro (ferry) across the River Tagus. Once on the south bank, cycle through the Cais do Ginjal, a former warehouse that used to supply bait and ice to the cod fishing boats of the North Seas.
Next, take the Boca do Vento lift to get closer to the statue of Christ the King, or cycle up the hill with no sweat on your electric bike! Enjoy magnificent views of Lisbon and the 25 of April Bridge. After a short coffee break in the botanic gardens of Casa da Cerca, climb to the top of the Sanctuary of Christ the King for the best view of the city.
Bike back down hill towards the river, and explore the narrow streets of Almada. Visit the Medieval Museum to see relics of Islamic life in Portugal in the Middle Ages. Then, cross the river again to return to the meeting point and the end of the tour.
