  • Around 6 kilometers south of Broome, you’ll find the Gantheaume Point, a scenic area where you can admire the sandy beaches and rugged red rock cliffs. At low tide, you might even get a chance to spot 30-million-year-old dinosaur footprints.

Travel Tips

  • Weather in Broome stays warm year-round, although the climate is characterized by two seasons: wet and dry. Wet season (October to March) experiences increased humidity and frequent occurrence of rain and thunderstorms. Dry season, which lasts from April to September, offers sunny days and clear skies.
  • If you happen to be in Broome between the months of March and October, make sure to to catch the Staircase to the Moon. This natural phenomenon occurs when the moon rises over the mudflats of Roebuck Bay at low tide, creating a gorgeous optical illusion.
  • Another thing to bear in mind if visiting Broome during wet season are the mosquitos, which tend to be most active during in this period. To avoid bites and irritation, make sure to apply bug repellant and cover up your body with light, breathable fabrics.
