This tour was amazing. Lots to see and do. But what really made this trip exceptional was the staff. The tour guide, Abder, was amazing. He constantly went above and beyond to meet our needs and make sure we were having a great time. He was kind, patient, and has a real passion for what he does. Also has a great sense of humor. I would also like to commend our driver, Abdul. He was kind and hospitable. Drove safely and has a great sense of humor too. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip - such a variety of experiences and a wonderful tour guide ‘Mimi’ - he has a huge passion and wealth of knowledge about Sri Lanka (and a wicked sense of humour!) The accommodation was on the whole of a better standard than previous Explore trips I’ve been on. But this may have been down to the fantastic Sri Lankan people who were employed at the hotels. Highlight for me would have to be the Elephant Transit Home - it was slightly bittersweet in as much as you knew those young elephants had been orphaned but they were being given the opportunity to be rehabilitated. Some really interesting temples - although the trip maybe a little temple heavy in the fees few days.

I found the leader welcoming and very helpful. However I found the trip too full often arriving at accommodations just before supper time giving little time to wind down or, for the more energetic, time to explore. I would prefer a more relaxed schedule and would recommend adding a facility to the website where I could actually sort trips according to level of physical activity.

From the very start, the trip felt immersive and beautifully balanced. The wildlife in Kruger National Park was unforgettable, spotting elephants, lions, and giraffes in their natural habitat was a real highlight. We were very lucky spotting the 'Top 5' and most exciting was seeing 2 leopards to complete the set! I was equally captivated by the more rural, untouched areas, which showcased a quieter, more authentic side of South Africa. The Drakensberg Mountains were simply stunning, with dramatic scenery that felt almost prehistoric, it was a joy to hike around, with next to no one else there. Visiting the historic site of Rorke’s Drift added real depth to the journey. It was a rich, rewarding, and truly memorable experience!

Great tour — I had the opportunity to meet amazing people. Just keep in mind that it’s part of a longer trip to Miami, which most people on the tour didn’t realize. Our trip manager was very helpful. I only wish we had more activities during the trip, as there was a lot of free time, sometimes in places where there was nothing to do.
