The itinerary also includes Karnak’s vast complex and Philae Island’s ancient temples before returning to the vibrant Egyptian Museum in Cairo. day 1 - Cairo arrival
Your local guide will meet you at the airport and drive you to your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle. Check into your hotel and review the tour itinerary with your guide. Enjoy your welcome drink after that. Stay overnight in Cairo.
day 2 - Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx
Start for the Pyramids of Giza after breakfast. Enjoy a fantastic introduction to each of the three pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus. You also have the option to enter into the pyramids or visit the Solar Boat Museum if you want to (own expense, tickets to be bought on the spot).
Optional Ride a camel and explore the area before heading for the Valley Temple of Khafre and the Sphinx. Transfer back to your hotel after that.
day 3 - Cairo - Luxor & Nile River cruise
Transfer to the airport in Cairo for your (flight Extra) to Luxor. Meet our representative at the airport in Luxor and head for the cruise vessel where you will spend the next 4 nights. After lunch on board the cruise, your tour guide in Luxor will pick you up to visit the temple complex of Karnak, the largest temple complex of the ancient world.
Drive to the Luxor Temple next. This temple was once connected to Karnak by a 3 km long Avenue of Sphinx, a portion of which still marks the entrance to this temple. Transfer back to your Nile cruise vessel after that.
day 4 - Luxor - Aswan (Nile River cruise)
Enjoy your breakfast on board the vessel before driving to the famous Valley of the Kings, located on the west bank of the Nile. This valley was the burial site of the pharaohs of the New Kingdom (1550BC –1080 BC). Visit three tombs in the valley. You also have the option to visit the tomb of Tutankhamun if you want to (own expense, tickets to be bought on the spot)
Proceed to the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, dedicated to the first queen to rule over Egypt, which is located at the bottom of a cliff. This temple is one of the most striking monuments in Egypt. Move on to see the Colossi of Memnon next.
Transfer back to your cruise for lunch. Sail to Edfu via Esna.
day 5 - Aswan (Nile River cruise)
Enjoy a horse and carriage ride around the Edfu Temple, dedicated to the falcon god Horus, son of Isis and Osiris. The Temple was built of sandstone between 237 BC to 57 BC and is widely regarded as the best preserved of all Egyptian temples. Head back to your cruise and continue sailing to Kom Ombo.
Upon reaching Kom Ombo, you will visit the unusual Greco-Roman temple dedicated to Sobek and Horus. Also see the crocodile museum which displays more than 300 crocodile mummies.
day 6 - Aswan (Nile River cruise)
Visit the unfinished obelisk, the largest known ancient obelisk that offers unusual insights into ancient Egyptian stone-working techniques. Proceed to the temple island of Philae on a motorboat. This island has a large number of temples dating back to pharaonic, Greek and Roman times.
The best preserved temple on the island is one that is dedicated to Isis. See the High Dam of Aswan as well as Lake Nasser, one of the largest man-made lakes in the world.
day 7 - Aswan - Cairo (flight)
Disembark from your cruise after breakfast then transfer to Aswan's airport for your return flight to Cairo. We will meet you at the airport and drive you to your hotel. You are free for the rest of the day. You can enjoy the optional lights and sound show at the pyramids in the evening.
day 8 - Cairo departure
Time to head home. Enjoy the last breakfast of this tour and prepare for your departure. We will transfer you to the airport for your flight home.
