Unforgettable 8-Day Adventure: The Enchanting Balkans Tour

"I recently embarked on the ""Tour of Enchanting Balkans"" from Tirana to Dubrovnik/Split, and it was an absolutely unforgettable experience! From start to finish, this 8-day adventure was filled with awe-inspiring landscapes, rich cultural experiences, and the perfect blend of history and modern charm. Our knowledgeable guide Besa made the journey even more special by sharing fascinating insights into the region's history, traditions, and local stories."

Introducing Montenegro

Steeped in history and studded with numerous natural and cultural highlights, Montenegro has a prominent spot on the list of many travelers. Ascend to the top of Mount Korab (2,751 meters), the country’s highest peak, or settle on the country’s Adriatic Sea coast around Kotor for a couple of days of relaxation. For a rush of adrenaline, tackle the whitewater of the Tara Canyon on a rafting expedition, or head out to explore the fluorescent waters of the Blue Grotto instead. When to go to Montenegro

Situated in the Balkan Peninsula in southern Europe, Montenegro can get really hot during the summer months of June, July, and August and very cold in winter, which usually starts in December and extends all the way to March. Therefore, the best time to visit  Montenegro is between April and May as well as from September to October.

Temperatures are pleasant during these months, hovering between 22°C and 28°C, which makes them equally good for a beach stay and for hiking in the mountains. If you are thinking about going on a ski trip in Plav, the gateway to the Accursed Mountains, you might want to head for the country in winter.

How long to stay in Montenegro

Montenegro packs a lot in a small space. Although you cannot cover the whole of the country in three days, you can still make a quick stop in the capital city of Podgorica before heading to the coastal areas of Kotor or Budva. If you have five days, you can also add outdoor adventures to your itinerary, such as trekking through the gorges of Kolasin. Seven days are enough to give Montenegro the justice it deserves. Spend a few days on its sunny beaches and a couple more soaking up the history of Ostrog Monastery before ending the trip at Durmitor National Park.

Must-visit destinations in Montenegro

Make sure that you include a day or two in the country’s former capital of Cetinje, where the national museum and Blue Palace provide an important introduction to the country’s culture and history. Skadar National Park plays host to the largest lake in the Balkans, while also being the heartland of the country’s food and wine production. If you are keen to challenge yourself, incorporate canyoning in the Medjurecki Canyon or head out to discover Lipa Cave instead.
