Start your adventure in the historic city of Quito, where you'll explore the enchanting Middle of the World Monument. Continue to Otavalo, where vibrant markets and indigenous communities offer a glimpse of Ecuador's diverse heritage.

Hike through the scenic wonders of Cuicocha and Cotacachi and experience the warmth of communities such as San Rafael, Peguche and San Pablo. Visit the vibrant Mercado Otavalo, full of local colours and flavors. Head to Papallacta where the hot springs await for a day of activities, then stay at Hakuna Matata Lodge for a delicious maito tasting.

Explore the natural beauty of Parrot Claylick, Yanacocha and Macas, and attend a traditional ceremony in Guamote. Immerse yourself in the bustling market of Guamote before heading to Riobamba. Marvel at the grandeur of Chimborazo on a full-day adventure before spending the night in Latacunga.

day 1 - Welcome to Quito: Let Your Adventure Begin!

¡Bienvenidos! Your private guide/driver will be waiting for you at the airport to greet you, help you with your luggage, and lead you to your private transportation. During an approx. 30 to 45-minute drive to your hotel.

At 9,350 feet (2,850 m) above sea level, Quito is one of the highest cities in the world. Quito was built on the ashes of the northern Inca capital after the Spanish conquest in 1533. The city is surrounded by majestic Andean peaks, including the restless Volcán Pichincha.

day 2 - City Tour Quito - Quitsato Museum - Night in Otavalo

The trip starts in the morning with the meeting of the participants. After the luggage is stowed, we will go to the colonial old town of Quito (Unesco World Heritage Site), where you will walk through the small streets and get to know the beautiful plazas and magnificent churches.

Discover the magic of the equator like never before at Quitsato, an extraordinary site that merges ancient astronomy with breathtaking landscapes. Located in the precise middle of the world, Quitsato offers a unique and insightful experience that will leave you in awe.

In the afternoon we continue north to Otavalo. At a common dinner you get to know each other and the tour guide gives an introduction to the trip.

day 3 - Totora Experience - shamanism OP.. - Night in Otavalo

Today, immerse yourself in the traditional craftsmanship of the Otavalo community with a hands-on Totora experience. Learn the ancient techniques of weaving and crafting using totora reeds, a vital part of local culture. Optionally, participate in a

shamanism session to connect with the spiritual heritage of the region. Overnight stay in Otavalo.

day 4 - Otavalo Market - Spring Water Papallacta - Amazon Night

Begin your day exploring the vibrant Otavalo Market, renowned for its colorful textiles and handmade crafts. Continue to the serene Papallacta Hot Springs for a relaxing soak in the natural thermal waters. In the evening, check in at Itamandi Lodge and enjoy a peaceful night surrounded by nature.

day 5 - Activities in the Amazon

After breakfast, we walk through the primary and secondary forest. This activity lasts about 2 - 1/2 to 3 hours.

In the afternoon it is time to enjoy a cultural activity. An Amazonian Kichwa community passed us by and we will learn about their way of life and the interaction they have with the jungle.

In this meeting, that part of the Amazon that is not found on maps will be shown: the Amazonian people in their daily lives. Part of our visit to the community consists of sharing the famous "chicha", a fermented yucca drink that has become part of their festivities and daily consumption.

We will participate in the preparation of this drink and try some of the traditional dishes. We will end the visit with a traditional dance performed by the children of the community and we will also have time to buy some handicrafts made by the indigenous people of the area. This small company is of great help to support the daily life of the indigenous people.

day 6 - Check out Amazon- Yanacocha - Night in Maca

Start your day with check-out from the Lodge and travel to the Yanacocha Reserve. Nestled in the Andean cloud forest, Yanacocha is a haven for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. Explore the reserve's trails and marvel at the diverse flora and fauna, including the striking hummingbirds that frequent the area.

Enjoy a guided tour to learn about the conservation efforts and the ecological importance of this unique environment. After your visit, continue to Macas for an overnight stay.

day 7 - Shuar Waterfall - Altillo Lake - Night in Guamote

Begin your day with a visit to the Shuar Waterfall, where you'll be enchanted by the natural beauty and have the opportunity to learn about the Shuar culture and traditions. Continue your journey to Altillo Lake, a picturesque spot perfect for relaxation and taking in the stunning Andean scenery. day 12 - Mindo - Night in Mindo
