The one-week tour was a good introduction to hiking in Romania

This was my first solo trip and must say it was life changing. Our guide Robbin was superb, incredibly knowledgeable, professional, supportive, flexible, insightful and inspirational to name just a few. It was a lovely group of eight that gelled and all had a positive and similar outlook. The itinerary was varied, well planned and just the right challenges for the group. I came away with new friends and the desire to do another trip with Explore very soon. I cannot fault anything about the company or itinerary, very pleased that the holiday description was accurate, in fact it exceeded my expectations. I urge anyone who is unsure….go for it, you won’t regret it!

Really enjoyed my hiking trip to Romania. It was lead by a extremely knowledgeable guide Robbin. He prepared the group well for the tough hike. Staying in mountain huts and guest houses really added to the experience. The food and company was excellent all week. This trip was exactly what I needed,I would definitely recommend if you want a challenging holiday.

A wonderful hiking tour and a beautiful and diverse landscape. A very good guide who informed us about everything in Romania. Nice accommodation close to the people in the countryside and good food.

Good trip with very good guide who provided useful and potentially important information on how both to get ready for walking in the mountains as well as the actual walking itself. Really excellent in that respect. Two concerns: i)Use of mountain huts one of which had very basic facilities. I have mixed feelings on this. On the positive side it provides excellent access to the high mountains; on the negative side I found it virtually impossible to sleep and had to miss one of the walks as a result. Not sure what the solution is but needs thinking about. ii)I do not like Explore’s habit of offering discounts (big in this case) to latecomers (but not to earlier bookers) where a holiday has vacancies. I know airlines do this but the relationship between the user and the product is much closer on these holidays. In the short run it may work to Explore’s advantage; in the long run I am not sure. I certainly have no intention of booking an Explore holiday again until pretty close to the departure date.
