Itinerary

For travelers fascinated by culture as much as wildlife, the 6-Day Tanzania Cultural Camping Safari blends classic game viewing with immersive local experiences. Journey through Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti National Park, while also engaging in cultural tours—hunt with the Hadzabe people at Lake Eyasi and visit a Maasai community.

Camping in the wild amplifies every sensation: the aroma of morning coffee, the night’s chorus of animals, and the thrill of close-up wildlife encounters. Expert guides navigate you through rough roads and rural settlements, ensuring safety and insight at every stop.

The unique selling point of this tour package is its blend of adventure camping and genuine cultural interaction, offering a rich, multifaceted exploration of Tanzania beyond the typical safari.

Distance: 190km

Non–game viewing time: 4 hrs

After breakfast, the tour departs. First stop is Arusha Town for any last minute purchases before we head off on safari. Afterwards, we head to Lake Manyara. Lake Manyara National Park offers breathtaking views in a large variety of habitats. Acacia woodlands, water forests, baobab strewn cliffs, algae-streaked hot springs, swamps and the lake itself. The small park is thus able to support a large number of animal species and incredible bird life. Manyara has the largest concentration of baboons anywhere in the world and the lions here are renowned for their tree climbing.

Late afternoon transfer to our private bush camp beside the lake at Lake Eyasi Bush Camp. Lunch and dinner included.

Duration:10 hours
Accommodation: Camping

day 2 - Lake Eyasi – Ngorongoro crater

Distance: 100km

Non–game viewing time: 4 hrs

Early in the morning, go hunting with the Bushmen, with tuition in survival skills. Afterwards, we'll head to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife. Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators such as lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot.

We will also visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually be seen here.

Then head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species.
