4 Day Swakopmund & Sossusvlei Adventure

Departing on Thursdays from Windhoek, this 4 day & three night accommodated safari is the perfect way to experience Swakopmund on the Skeleton Coast and the stunning sand dunes of the Namib Desert. The Ramsar Site at Walvis Bay and the big dunes. Big Daddy, Big Mamma and the iconic Dune 7. Relaxation or thrills and spills in in Swakopmund, the choice is yours, then heading for adventure on a magical trip to one of the most beautiful places on Planet Earth, the centre of the Namib - the oldest desert in the world. From the coast we cross the vast gravel plains that stretch inland for over 100km. We traverse high mountain passes and cross The Tropic of Capricorn on our way down to the dune fields. A pre-dawn start to catch the soft light of sunrise as we head for Dead Vlei with its stark collection of skeleton trees and on to Sossusvlei, waters end for an ancient river. We watch out for wildlife, oryx and springbok are often seen in this sandy land but if we look and have sharp eyes, the dunes are also home to a full menagerie of reptiles, beetles, insects, rodents and birds. All these creatures are uniquely desert adapted survive in this waterless wonderland using super-power evolutionary adaptations. The Namib Desert is internationally recognised as a top biodiversity hot spot in a desert habitat. Climbing a towering sand dune, 300 m from top-to-toe, is an experience unique to Namibia, Big Daddy, Big Mamma and Dune 45 are all waiting to be conquered if you are feeling intrepid and want to experience the view from such a lofty perch. We visit the Solitaire cheetah conservation project, then homeward bound up-and-over rocky mountains as we climb our way up the central plateau and across the Khomas Hochland mountains to Windhoek.

Brilliant experience led by an excellent driver/guide, who was very pleased to share her information and love of her country. Deadvlei, Sossusvlei, Wolvis Bay Etosha National Park full of surprises. Daily news was posted on WhatsApp site, worked well when internet was available, and very useful for packing and preparing for the day ahead. Some days involved a lot of travelling but I enjoyed the 2 nighters with activities. September was perfect weather wise and no need for malaria tablets. Group of 10 was great, truck was our purpose built vehicle and loved raising the roof when waiting patiently at waterholes. Wonderful trip.

A wonderful experience in every way and everything I was hoping for - African animals, large and small (I enjoyed the insect life as well as the big game!) and dramatic desert landscapes with the enormous red dunes. Ckastro was an outstanding Tour Leader and great fun to be with - he worked very hard for us all as he was driving the truck as well as leading the tour. Food everywhere was excellent and as a craft beer enthusiast, I was pleased to try some excellent locally brewed ales from microbreweries in Swakopmund. Thoroughly recommended.

Kastro our guide lwas excellent. He handled every eventuality with aplomb and style. He was endless patient with his sometimes wayward and cluless charges. A font of knowledge on every topic: botany, animals, history, politics. He was so proud of Namibia, rightly so, that his enthusiasm was contagious.

This holiday is full on, fast paced but there are long distances to travel, hence early starts. But we saw so much and the variety of things to see and do was really fantastic. Night safaris, early morning safaris, the township visit was very interesting , visit to seals , boat trip ( saw whales and dolphins), so many animals to see along the road too and fantastic knowledgeable guide with us and at the lodges. The lodges were very high quality although the pools were very cold! Altogether such a memorable lifetime experience!

Namibia Lodge Safari tour was excellent. The intinerary was well planned, and our leader Brian, was enthusiastic, acomodating to our needs and very knolwdgeable of what Namibia offers. The dessert landscape has a rare beuty to it, the unique flora and fauna were beautiful and the large number of animals we saw during safari has left indeleble memories about Namibia.
