A safari trip in Africa is THE bucket list adventure that we all dream about, and boy does Contiki make that dream come true. This trip traverses the incredible landscapes of four different countries, showcasing the individual gems that make each just as special as the last. From the depths of the overnight camps in Chobe National Park, Botswana and the peaks of the sandy dunes of Sossusvlei, Namibia to the thrilling sunrise game drives of Kruger National Park, South Africa and mesmerising helicopter rides over Victoria Falls, Zambia/Zimbabwe. This trip is all about NATURE. You’ll never feel more grounded, more connected to the natural world. Contiki has curated the trip of all trips with this one. The highest of standards are kept across the board whether it’s the accomodation, food, activities or guides. Nothing has been overlooked and no matter your TM, they will ensure this is THE trip of a lifetime. Special shoutout to my TMs Sim & Often, two incredibly special humans that live and breath Contiki, so if you’re lucky enough to be on their trip, you’re in for a treat. Exploring every nook and cranny of Southern Africa that will only ever leave you awe inspired (and wanting more of course). There are way too many highlights of this trip to name them all, but one thing is a given, you will never thank yourself more than when you have booked this trip. Truly life changing. You won’t regret it.

What a Trip!!

Wow! What an incredible trip this was - one of the best I have been on. Yes, there are a lot of miles covered and a lot of time sat on the coach but it is absolutely worth it for the places that we visited and the things that we saw - from the lushness of the Okavango Delta, the tribal villages, the animals that you see roaming free, and the distinctness of the desert. Each place we visited was different to the last and felt like it gave us a good insight into the heart of both Namibia and Botswana. If you like taking photos - you will be in heaven! We saw so, so many different animals and birds, and the landscapes were incredible.

Brilliant safari trip

This trip was great. It is our 3rd safari trip and one of the best. The guide Angelo is very knowledgeable, friendly and available not only to explain about wild life but also to help with photo tips. This trip is great both for photographers and people who love wild life. But be prepared for loooooong drives on bumpy roads. Food was very good, traditional and authentic accommodation.

Trip of a lifetime

An amazing, once in a lifetime experience which has left me humbled, speechless and overwhelmed in equal measure. From the landscapes of Brandberg to the wildlife and waterways of the delta and everything in between this truly is a trip to treasure I have fallen in love with both countries and will be back!

Overall, I had a great experience and really enjoyed the trip. The itinerary was incredible, the accommodations were good, and everything was very well organized. A special thank you to Often and Big Jojo, they were both amazing! They made the trip fun, kept everything running smoothly, and created a fantastic atmosphere for the group. My main suggestion would be to allow a little more time at each destination. I understand Contiki’s style is “go, go, go,” but spending only 15 minutes at iconic places like Spitzkoppe (the “Matterhorn of Namibia”) or other stops simply wasn’t enough. It often felt like we were constantly rushing from one place to the next just to arrive in time for lunch or dinner. I think arriving even an hour later on some days would have been a worthwhile trade-off if it meant we could spend more time enjoying these incredible locations. I also understand the weather was completely out of everyone’s control, but since conditions weren’t in our favor, I would have appreciated at least trying to adjust the itinerary where possible to give us a better chance of experiencing some locations under better conditions. Even small changes could have made a difference. Aside from that, everything was great. It was an unforgettable adventure, and I’d definitely travel with Contiki again.

Amazing but too much?

These destinations especially the Okavango Delta were on my bucket list. It was a great holiday with great people but didn't really live up to expectations. It goes without saying that the wildlife was unbelievable, and I had some truly magic moments spent watching 5 black rhino at the waterhole in Etosha and some close encounters with elephants in the Delta on a foot safari, but there is a LOT of driving on this trip with endless hours looking at the same scenery and much of it on very bumpy roads, a LOT of eating lunch in the truck/by the side of the road and a LOT of bush toilets - many of which were not near any bushes for the women to hide behind. Some of the places we stayed overnight were breathtaking like the tented tree houses by the lagoon and it would have been great to have stayed in fewer places and move less often. Don't get me wrong, I am hugely grateful to have seen/experienced all the things I have seen on this trip and overall, it was an amazing trip. Final point...take less clothes than you think you need - wash stuff as you go along, plus add wet wipes, hand sanitiser and packets of tissues to your essential items list.
