Uncover the essence of China’s most storied cities on this private, five-day sightseeing tour from Shanghai to Xi’an and Beijing. Begin with a flight to Xi’an, home of the awe-inspiring Terracotta Army and the imposing ancient city wall. A high-speed bullet train then whisks you to Beijing, where you’ll walk the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall and explore imperial landmarks like the Forbidden City and Summer Palace. This tour package offers flexibility in accommodation, allowing guests to choose their own hotels or upgrade to four-star stays for added comfort. The standout feature of this journey is its efficient yet immersive itinerary—perfect for travelers who want to experience China’s cultural highlights, from ancient marvels to modern vibrancy, in just a few days.

day 1 - Shanghai – Xian (by air)

Transfer from your hotel in Shanghai to the airport and catch the morning flight to Xian. Your tour guide will meet you at the airport in Xian. Visit the Archaeological Museum of Hanyangling Mausoleum, also called Jingdi’s Tomb, the burial place of Emperor Jingdi and his wife. With a history of over 2,000 years, this mausoleum is also the only underground museum in China.

Take a stroll through the Muslim Quarter of Xian after that. For dinner tonight, you can have local cuisine at a restaurant before heading for your hotel.

day 2 - Xian city sightseeing tour

Head out to see the Terracotta Army, over 8,000 painted, life-sized warriors and horses in battle rank formations that guard the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang (259 - 210 BC), the first emperor of unified China.

Then explore the 14-kilometre-long City Wall of Xi'an by foot (you can also rent a bike if you want to). This wall is the best preserved ancient military defensive systems in existence in the world today.

You have the option to watch a Tang Dynasty performance in the evening. Stay overnight in Xian.

day 3 - Xi’an – Beijing by bullet train

See the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, built to store Buddhist sutras and other religious artefact, before transferring to the train station. Hop on the bullet train to Beijing. meet your tour guide on arrival and transfer to your accommodation in the city.

day 4 - Beijing: Great Wall (Mutianyu section) & Summer Palace

No Beijing tour is complete without a visit to the Great Wall. Head for the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. Take the cable car to the top of the wall and marvel at the appealing landscape around the wall. Afterwards, we will head for the Summer Palace, the best-preserved imperial garden in China. Appreciate the beautiful garden and imagine the lifestyle of royalty who stayed in this place.

day 5 - Beijing city highlights & departure

Visit the Temple of Heaven, where Ming and Qing emperors paid homage to their gods. Th taen take a short stroll to the Tiananmen Square and discover the magnificent Forbidden City, the world's largest palace complex with 9,999 rooms across 72 hectares, surrounded by a six-meter-deep moat and a ten-meter-high wall.

Learn more about ancient emperors hear the stories of the concubines. Later, we will stop by the Bird’s Nest, one of the most famous stadiums in the world that is known for its iconic design, before its time to head back to the station or the airport.
