This trip was amazing in terms of landscape changes. The optional experiences truly added to the cultural aspect but also to the historical condition of the Scandinavian countries. I thought the the tour covered a good balance of interests. Dunsire you
A great introduction to Finland and the Stockholm area. I really enjoyed the combination of walking and sightseeing. I was pleasant surprised that the walking wasn’t quite as gentle as I’d feared The Finnish countryside was stunning and this, together with the stay in Turku, were my highlights. Toni was an excellent guide, full of information and history about both his home country of Finland and Sweden. The only downside for me was the Stockholm hotel, where the room was very warm and there was a lot of street noise with the window open at night,
Inga and Scaba are a great team. We had more or less plain sailing on this trip. Inga was a brilliant story teller as well as being a font of so much information, she told many a funny tale and sang so beautifully in Norwegian and English. Scaba was really kind to the less physically able people and supported them to get on and off the coach. (Some other tour members helped out too). There was just the right amount of free time and organised optionals. The scenery, history and the good (for the non vegetarians) was fabulous. The food was good for us vegetarians especially the OUTRAGEOUSLY AMAZING cinnamon buns, which I couldn't get enough of.
The itinerary was a busy one, but I like that. I want to see as much as I can in the limited time I am somewhere that I'll probably never visit again. The tour director's knowledge and historical information is incalculable.
This tour more than met our expectations. It has 9 days in the midnight sun above the Arctic Circle. There is a visit to the most northern point in Europe to see the sun at midnight just above the Barrow Sea. There are visits to Sami culture sights with lovely hospitality and up-close encounters with their reindeer. The visit with Santa Claus in his “home” was an enjoyable “cut above” usual expectations. We liked the many days in which to take in the natural beauty of the wilderness, lakes and fjords. We did nearly all the optional activities and still had time to rest on the coach. In the 4 capitol cities the included a number of amazing beautiful locations as well as interesting history. A highlight for me was seeing the raft and reed boat that Thor Heyerdahl sailed in. Our delightful tour guide was a native Swede full of knowledge, enthusiasm, friendliness and very attentive to individual needs. Our driver was very adept at handling both challenging mountain roads and city traffic. This was a very satisfying trip.
I loved the entire itinerary. Geiranger and the path of the Trolls was an out of this world experience. I learned so much. Each day was filled with wonderment.
