Itinerary

Cycle the enchanting Greenways trail connecting the Czech Republic and Austria. Experience the essence of Central Europe on this self-guided cycling holiday from Prague to Vienna, following the scenic Greenways trail through the heart of the Czech Republic and into Austria. Cycling begins in the fairytale town of Cesky Krumlov, and onto a captivating mix of rolling hills, spa towns like Trebon, and UNESCO-listed Renaissance treasures such as Telc. The journey winds past shimmering ponds, dense forests of the Czech Canada National Park, and the riverbanks of the Dyje National Park, before entering the renowned wine-growing region of South Moravia. Ride through medieval towns and across the border at historic Mikulov. Cycle south through Austrian vineyards and quaint villages to vibrant Vienna. Rich in culture, history, and natural beauty, this diverse itinerary offers the perfect blend of active travel and cultural discovery for cyclists seeking an unforgettable journey between two of Europe’s grandest cities.

day 1 - Transfer from Prague to Cesky Krumlov

The trip begins at approximately 9am with a morning transfer from any Prague hotel to Cesky Krumlov (transfer distance: 175km/110mi). If you feel like a warm-up cycle you can cycle up to Klet hill (at 1079m - 26km/16mi, total elevation gain 692m).

day 2 - Cycle to the Renaissance town of Trebon (53km/32mi)

The first cycling day leads through the beautiful hilly landscape surrounding Cesky Krumlov. As you near the Trebon area, the trail gradient begins to level off. There are vineyards, fields and small villages along the trail. Experienced bikers can reach the Vienna hotel by bike - the total distance varies according to the location of your hotel, ask your consultant for details. As standard, the cycling part of the tour finishes in Mistelbach (45km/27mi) or Poysdorf (25km/15.5mi). We will transfer you from the agreed town directly to your hotel in Vienna.

Note: It should be agreed on in advance whether you want to cycle all the way to Vienna or where you will meet the driver who will take you to Vienna.

Please also be aware the full cycling distance to Vienna on this day is over 100km, is not flat, and the arrival from the north is not particularly interesting.
