Reviews of our Madagascar Tours for Senior Citizens

Our senior travelers love their Madagascar journeys — here's what they say.

Our World Expeditions trip to Madagascar was phenomenal. Our guide, Lola, briefed us daily on the following day’s schedule, was flexible when we wanted to stop or didn’t, and was friendly and personable and helpful the entire time despite long days of driving. The activities and hikes planned were wonderful, and we saw all the animals in the wild that we had wanted to see when we first started planning this trip. It was really nice to not have to deal with any logistics presence since we only had a few weeks to see the country. Our luggage was lost by Air France on the way to Madagascar, and Lola and World Expeditions worked hard to track it down and arrange to have it driven all the way to our camp in the southern part of the island when it was finally located three days later, despite the courier wanting to leave it by the side of the road 2 hours away from the camp!

This trip was absolutely fantastic. The quality of the hotels was amazing and the different vehicles were excellent. The drive to the river was an adventure in itself and the canoeing was a special remote travel experience. This operator is the only one ever going to this part of the country and they have a great bunch of boatmen, excellent equipment and well rehearsed camping routines. The Tsingy was great fun and we saw two different types of lemur just a few feet from us as we walked in. All the driving throughout the trip was very interesting with beautiful terraced fields for much of the time. We saw 11 different types of lemur in total and lots of chameleon. Our trek was great and our trek crew were a lot of fun singing and dancing every night. Our guide Rynah spoke excellent English and was absolutely lovely. Thank you World Expeditions for organising such a truly memorable trip

We loved this 21 day action packed adventure! It was incredibly well organised and ran very smoothly, despite the complex logistics involved with 4WD vehicles, canoes and canoe crew, cooks, camping gear, mini bus transport and porters. Rynah, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the flora, fauna and people, and did everything to ensure we had a comfortable and enjoyable trip.

I just wanted to let you know that my Madagascar Adventure was fabulous. Your local operator is excellent and the logistics were absolutely spot on. The guide and drivers were superb, the vehicles top quality, the camping equipment excellent, the boat and trek crews brilliant.

Our Culture and Wildlife of Madagascar tour was terrific. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and night walks to see lemurs, chameleons and more. We also experienced many aspects of the local culture, and we especially enjoyed the coastal lakes area of the Pangalanes, a tropical paradise. Our guide was informative and keen, and our accomodation was very comfortable.

Incredible Adventure

Incredible adventure through Madagascar. While there is a lot of travel, it allows you to see all the different cultures and landscapes of the country - from the highlands to the western coast, cities and rural villages, national parks etc. There were plenty of stops along the way for toilet breaks, and culture stops. We were never uncomfortable but you do have to go with an open mind and just go with the flow. We went for the wildlife and this didn't disappoint - we saw so many different lemurs up close and all of the guides were fantastic to point out all the different animals Our tour guide, Claudia, was amazing and so helpful throughout the entire tour. Our group was very enjoyable and we all had a similar mindset.

Senior-friendly tours in Madagascar often highlight the country's natural and cultural richness without demanding too much physically. Popular activities include light nature walks in Andasibe National Park, where you can spot lemurs and unique flora on flat, shaded trails. A visit to the iconic Avenue of the Baobabs offers stunning views and photo opportunities, typically accessed via a comfortable drive. In Antsirabe, travelers can explore local artisan workshops and thermal springs with minimal walking. Many itineraries also include scenic river cruises, ideal for soaking in the countryside without exertion. While spots like Ranomafana National Park offer incredible biodiversity, they do involve uneven terrain and longer walks; some operators provide shorter trail alternatives, extra guide support, or rest stops to ensure accessibility.
